South Carolina continues its red-hot start to the season. And national outlets are rewarding them in the national polls.<\/p>\n
The Gamecocks surged into the top 10 in both national polls this week, the highest they\u2019ve been all season.<\/p>\n

The Gamecocks entered the week No. 11 in the rankings and deservedly moved up after a 3-1 week.\u00a0<\/p>\n Baseball America, after ranking the Gamecocks No. 14 last week, moved them up four spots to No. 14 this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n South Carolina also checks in at No. 5 in the RPI with a 8-1 record in Quad I, 0-1 Quad II record and a combined 15-0 record in the final two quadrants.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Gamecocks are coming off yet another sweep this season, taking all three in their home SEC opener against No. 22\/18 Missouri with two coming on walk-offs.\u00a0<\/p>\n [Become an NIL supporter of your South Carolina Gamecocks!]<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n South Carolina stormed back Friday night in a 9-8 win over the Tigers. The Gamecocks plated four in the ninth thanks to a two-run single from Caleb Denny. Jonathan French picked up a game-tying base hit then Michael Braswell delivered a walk-off single and error.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Gamecocks also swept a doubleheader Saturday with a dominating 8-1 win to clinch the series. Noah Hall headlined that with a dominant seven-inning performance and an offense that hit homer after homer.<\/p>\n Game 3 was arguably the most drama-filled, a 5-4 win in 12 innings. South Carolina got a game-tying, two-run homer from Ethan Petry in the eighth inning and used three shutout innings from Matthew Becker to set up the walk-off hit.<\/p>\n Petry ended the game with a bases-loaded single in the 12th to win it, continuing his push as one of the best freshmen in the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n [Subscribe for free to Gamecock Central\u2019s YouTube page!]<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m very proud of that group in that locker room. They played their asses off all day,\u201d Mark Kingston said Saturday. \u201cThat second game could have gone either way a couple of times and could have gotten away from us. We just kept fighting. A lot of heart in that locker room.\u201d<\/p>\n The lone loss this week came with the Gamecocks dropping a 6-2 contest Tuesday night against Charlotte at Truist Field in Charlotte.\u00a0<\/p>\n South Carolina did lose Will McGillis for at least 4-6 weeks.
