Before he was the Indianapolis Colts\u2019 interim head coach, Jeff Saturday<\/strong> was a staple on ESPN\u2019s Get Up<\/em> as an analyst. With the NFL<\/a><\/strong> season right around the corner, there appears to be mutual interest<\/a> in a reunion, according to the New York Post\u2019s<\/em> Andrew Marchand<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, it\u2019s still \u201cup in the air\u201d if it\u2019ll happen.<\/p>\n

Saturday\u2019s \u201cpancakes\u201d segment was a staple on Tuesday mornings during the season as he broke down the best blocks made by offensive linemen each week. He left the role to take over as the Colts\u2019 interim head coach<\/a><\/strong> after the firing of Frank Reich<\/a><\/strong> and had a 1-7 record in the role.<\/p>\n

One of the qualms about Saturday\u2019s return to ESPN comes from the budget. The network just went through a massive round of layoffs and some NFL talent, such as Steve Young<\/strong> and Matt Hasselbeck<\/a><\/strong>, were caught in the crosshairs. That\u2019s why there could be some hesitance regarding Saturday\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n

Saturday played center for the Colts from 1999-2011 and wrapped up his career with the Green Bay Packers in 2012. He won a Super Bowl with Indianapolis as part of a career that included six Pro Bowls and got him in the Colts\u2019 Ring of Honor.<\/p>\n

He initially joined ESPN as an analyst in 2013 before heading to the sidelines in 2022.<\/p>\n

Last month, ESPN let go about 20 on-air personalities<\/a><\/strong> as part of a massive round of layoffs by Disney. Some of the biggest names were Monday Night Countdown host Suzy Kolber<\/strong> and talk show host Max Kellerman<\/strong>. With the season quickly approaching, it\u2019s still unclear who\u2019ll replace Kolber on Monday Night Countdown, but a report from The Athletic\u2019s<\/em> Richard Deitsch<\/a><\/strong> said Scott Van Pelt<\/strong> would take the role.<\/p>\n

However, during an interview on The Dan Patrick Show<\/em>, Van Pelt said he hasn\u2019t been given the position<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was reported that I was the guy. And other than me not having been offered the job or accepting a job I haven\u2019t been offered, it was spot on,\u201d\u00a0Van Pelt said<\/a>. \u201cGod, that was weird. I mean, you read things and you\u2019re like, \u2018Whoa, whoa.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople were congratulating me! You hear an athlete or somebody in sports say, \u2018Well, that\u2019s just not true.\u2019 And you kind of always think, \u2018Sure it is.\u2019 Well, this was a situation where something was reported about me, which was not accurate. Now, I don\u2019t want to be coy and act like it couldn\u2019t happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
