Since Theodore (Al.) linebacker and Miami commit\u00a0Cam Pruitt<\/a>\u00a0announced his pledge to the Hurricanes in June, the four-star prospect has relished his time as a UM commit and is excited to see what the future holds.<\/p>\n

Despite other programs around the country, including Georgia Tech, continuing to push for his services, the Alabama native has not wavered and has stayed solid with his pledge to the Hurricanes.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been really smooth,\u201d Pruitt told CaneSport. \u201cI\u2019ve had some schools coming at me, but it\u2019s been smooth. I\u2019m really committed to Miami.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Pruit, who announced his pledge to the Hurricanes following his June official visit, says the genuine love and feeling he gets from the program was a big reason he decided to commit to Miami over the Ikes of Ole Miss, Arkansas, and LSU, and one of the main reasons he has remained committed as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust the connection we have,\u201d Pruitt said. \u201cThe coaches text me every day, and I learn new stuff every time with them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pruitt, who is the No. 400 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking, named Miami linebacker coaches Derek Nicholson<\/a> and Sabbath Joseph <\/a>as two staff members with whom he has developed a close relationship.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re very similar to me,\u201d Pruitt said. \u201cThey have a lot of energy, and they have fun and stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n

Along with Joseph and Nicholson, The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder has developed a tight bond with Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal<\/a><\/strong>, who played a big part in his commitment to the Hurricanes.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s like a father-son relationship,\u201d Pruitt said. \u201cHe really took his time and effort to get me to commit to Miami and did everything he could. He doesn\u2019t sugarcoat anything, so if I\u2019m ready to play, he\u2019ll play me, and if I\u2019m not, he won\u2019t play me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pruitt shares his thoughts on Miami\u2019s 2024 class and upcoming senior season\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

With 18 commits and the No. 17 class in the country according to the On3 2024 Industry Ranking Football Team Recruiting Rankings<\/a>, Pruitt is pleased with what Miami has done on the recruiting trail so far and believes Miami will finish with one of the top classes in the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe class that we\u2019ve got so far is a good class; I really like it,\u201d Pruitt said. \u201cI think we\u2019re going to have one of the top classes this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked with whom he has built the best relationship thus far, Pruitt named fellow Miami pledge Artavius Jones.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I saw he committed, I messaged him and told him welcome and things like that,\u201d Pruitt said. \u201cI watched a little bit of a tape, and he\u2019s a solid dude. That\u2019s a real big dude right there.\u201d<\/p>\n

As a junior at Theodore High School, Pruitt ended his season with 99 tackles and 15 TFLs, but he believes the best is yet to come. With his senior year right around the corner, Pruitt is ready to put the country on notice and prove that he is one of the top LBs in his class.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like I\u2019m going to have a lot more film since I\u2019m playing on both sides of the ball,\u201d Pruitt said. \u201cI\u2019ll really get to show coaches that I can play anywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n

CaneSport\u2019s take <\/strong><\/p>\n

Hearing Pruitt reaffirm his pledge to the Hurricanes is something that is great to hear, but this may be a situation to monitor as time goes on. He\u2019s a big piece in this class so it\u2019s no surprise other programs continue to push for him, and we aren\u2019t concerned about him sticking right now.<\/p>\n
