For many programs landing an Elite 11 quarterback would mean job done at the position. But for Jeff Lebby<\/a><\/strong> and the Sooners, a numbers game has made it clear a second quarterback is needed. They\u2019ve been looking all over the country to find the signal caller who could join Michael Hawkins<\/a><\/strong> in the 2024 class.<\/p>\n

Oklahoma has extended a few offers and one of the more notable ones is Northwestern commitment Brendan Zurbrugg<\/a><\/strong>. With the Wildcats dismissing head coach Pat Fitzgerald<\/a><\/strong> on June 10 it\u2019s no surprise that the Sooners wanted to take a longer look at the Alliance, Ohio native. <\/p>\n

The talented quarterback who also holds offers from Syracuse and a multitude of MAC programs has already had some conversations with Lebby and co. <\/p>\n

In fact he\u2019s considering visiting Oklahoma\u2019a Party at the Palace next weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah I might be (going). I\u2019m working with my family right now to see if we can get there,\u201d Zurbrugg admitted. <\/p>\n

Understandably there\u2019s still a lot to work through as Zurbrugg committed to Northwestern less than a month ago, and just before news began to break around the Wildcats. As the Sooners saw the situation unfolding he sat down and talked with Lebby and took some interest in a visit. <\/p>\n

Should Oklahoma flip him away from Northwestern it would give them their third scholarship quarterback for 2023 to join Jackson Arnold<\/a><\/strong> and Hawkins. A third quarterback they clearly hope to find from the class of 2024.<\/p>\n

Sooners Land Another Promising Wide Receiver<\/h2>\n

On Saturday Oklahoma got news of it\u2019s latest commitment when Southlake (Texas) Carroll wide receiver Jacob Jordan<\/a><\/strong> picked the Sooners. <\/p>\n

Jordan chose the Sooners over offers from Tulsa, North Texas, and Western Kentucky. And while those may seem like schools that Oklahoma typically beats in recruiting what makes it interesting is that Jordan chose to come to Norman as a preferred walk-on. <\/p>\n

That said, don\u2019t dismiss the talents of Jordan. The class of 2024 prospect, who also was offered by Texas Tech last June, had a monstrous junior year with 67 receptions for 1,225 yards and 16 touchdowns. And he made a big impression on several Dallas-Ft. Worth coaches we spoke with. <\/p>\n

\u201cJacob Jordan is the best route runner I\u2019ve seen in DFW in the past few years. I\u2019m a big fan of his,\u201d said one long-time area assistant coach.<\/p>\n
