Paul Finebaum<\/strong> has some interesting analysis when it comes to which quarterback will be the starter for the Alabama Crimson Tide<\/a><\/strong> in Week 1.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the biggest question facing\u00a0Nick Saban<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and company ahead of the season, as the trio of\u00a0Jalen Milroe<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Ty Simpson<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0former Notre Dame quarterback Tyler Buchner<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0are battling it out. During an appearance on ESPN\u2019s SportsCenter<\/em> from SEC Media Days in Nashville, Finebaum explained how he would evaluate the Crimson Tide\u2019s competition.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou would probably have to go back to 2014, 2015 when Jake Coker<\/a><\/strong> came over from Florida State<\/a><\/strong>, and he didn\u2019t win the job right away,\u201d Finebaum stated, asked by ESPN\u2019s Matt Barrie regarding the last time Alabama entered a season with this many question marks. \u201cHe barely lost the job the previous year to Jameis Winston<\/a><\/strong>, and Matt, there are myriad questions about this program. They still have enormous talent. Everyone knows that. Everybody can read the recruiting rankings. They won last year in that. <\/p>\n

\u201cBut you have to wonder about the chemistry. I didn\u2019t hear anything from Nick Saban that enlightened me, or made me feel better, that he\u2019s closer to finding a quarterback.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Finebaum, whichever of the three quarterbacks starts Week 1 won\u2019t be the tell-tale sign of what\u2019s to come, it\u2019s who begins the game against the Texas Longhorns<\/a><\/strong> in Week 2 that\u2019ll tell us who won the competition. <\/p>\n

\u201cBy now, they\u2019ve already \u2014 it\u2019s not like Tyler Buchner, who came over from Notre Dame, hasn\u2019t been seen by the coaches. They\u2019ve seen him. They look out the window and watch what\u2019s happening right now,\u201d added Finebaum. \u201cI think the real question for him is, he probably does not have the time to get the leadership qualities that he needs to command this team, so that makes most people believe that Jalen Milroe will be the first game starter. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s who starts the second game Matt, against Texas, that may help determine the season.\u201d<\/p>\n

So Finebaum believes that Milroe\u2019s familiarity with the system and starting a couple games last season gives him the leg up on Simpson and Buchner for Week 1, but it\u2019ll be fascinating to see who starts that second game against Texas for the Crimson Tide.<\/p>\n

That means Paul Finebaum believes the Alabama quarterback competition could rage into the regular season, so buckle up, it\u2019s going to be an interesting ride in Tuscaloosa. <\/p>\n
