West Bloomfield (Mich.) cornerback Jamir Benjamin <\/a><\/strong>felt Stanford was a \u2018life-changing\u2019 opportunity. He committed to the Cardinal back on Nov. 26. He plans on staying that way, though other programs are trying to convince him of his other options.<\/p>\n

\u201cI committed to Stanford because that was a life-changing decision,\u201d Benjamin told On3. \u201cYou really can\u2019t beat the degree, the education and I\u2019m out there in California playing in the Pac 12. I\u2019m setting myself up to be successful and putting my family in the best position.\u201d<\/p>\n

Benjamin has some schools still in contact, though he\u2019s been set on not entertaining their advances. He chose Stanford over in-state program Michigan and Big Ten rival Penn State among a host of others. <\/p>\n

Benjamin is still on the fence about whether or not he\u2019ll take any other visits, unofficial or official visits at this point. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got to talk to my family about it but at this point, I\u2019m just locked in with Stanford,\u201d Benjamin said. <\/p>\n

Benjamin is scouring the state of Michigan for players to join him in Palo Alto. He has his eyes on a few players in particular. Benjamin was working on his teammate Kari Jackson before he committed to Penn State.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s one that we really wanted,\u201d Benjamin said. \u201cWe offered him. It\u2019s that Wisconsin defense and they asked me who they should offer and I suggested Kari\u2026I\u2019m going to do my research and look into other guys that we can go get.\u201d<\/p>\n

Versatility is a big piece of CB\u2019s game<\/h2>\n

Benjamin expects to play cornerback at least initially for Stanford. He doesn\u2019t have a preference. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey start everybody off at cornerback, but I\u2019m versatile, I can play safety and corner,\u201d Benjamin said. \u201cWhatever they tell me to do to get on the field, that\u2019s what I\u2019ll play.\u201d<\/p>\n

Benjamin is well aware of Stanford\u2019s history of producing NFL-caliber defensive backs. It also played a part in his recruitment. He\u2019s followed former Cardinal star Richard Sherman\u2019s NFL career. <\/p>\n

He\u2019s also seen Stanford turn Kyu Blue Kelly into a potential high NFL draft pick in 2023. Benjamin is a fan of Sherman\u2019s style of play as well as Kelly\u2019s.<\/p>\n

\u201cMan I\u2019ve always watched the Legion of Boom and Richard Sherman since I was a kid,\u201d Benjamin said. \u201cI wanted dreads like him. He played at Stanford, so I wanted to follow in his footsteps.\u201d<\/p>\n
