He was excited. He really spent time with my family every time I came up there. It really made us feel like a priority. I actually told Coach Smart a couple months prior that it was my plan (and to save the spot). He was excited about it,” Bowens told DawgsHQ’s Rusty Mansell.

Bowens’ timing, however, was a bit more on the fly.

“The big hooplah commitment came when they were taking a commit picture. All the recruits there knew I was going to flip the next day at 3,” he said. “But they were taking the picture and the families didn’t know. The guys were all saying, ‘Get in the picture!’, and I was like, ‘Alright, lemme get the mic.’”

For Bowens, a key piece of that call, however, was the man who he’ll work under in Athens.

“Coach [Dell] McGee and his production, not just with running backs but with south Florida backs, I saw the vision with that,” he said. “I really saw the path to the draft and sitting in line behind really good running backs. It’s the way Coach McGee has developed really good running backs. It’s really unmatched.”

Since that viral moment, the Dawgs have continued to build on the nation’s No. 1 ranked recruiting class, and it’s something Bowens isn’t taking for granted.

“It’s a really good thing going on right now. We have a lot of guys who believe in what the coaches are telling us, and they’re stacking up. We’re getting more pieces to join our family, and it’s a good thing,” he said. “Actually, I was staying on Joseph [Jonah-Ajonye] for the last couple of weeks. He made the big move, and I’m happy about that…I’m just blessed to be part of a program like that. We have the top line in the country, and we’re getting the top line in this recruiting cycle. I’m just really lucky to be a part of this.”

With his commitment sutured up, Bowens is now focusing on other goals — primarily his senior season and performing at the FBU Top Gun camp this weekend where he earned an invite to the Adidas All-American Game.

“I want to come out here and dominate and earn that invite. I hate to say it like this, but I’m not out here grinding to get offers. I’m done with my recruitment,” he said. “I’m out here to be a better player and compete with some of the best players out here.”

Chauncey Bowens hails from West Palm Beach, Florida’s The Benjamin School.

The post RB commit Chauncey Bowens locked in with the Georgia Bulldogs appeared first on On3.

Chauncey Bowens was a welcomed addition to Georgia’s Class of 2024, with the four-star running…

[1

post-10035","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
