Wolverine TV: Will Michigan close with key WR target Channing Goodwin?

Wolverine TV: Will Michigan close with key WR target Channing Goodwin?

The Wolverine’s EJ Holland and Zach Libby discussed several Michigan recruiting topics on the Wednesday edition of The Wolverine Live recruiting show, including three-star Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day wide receiver Channing Goodwin setting a commitment date.

Watch and listen to Holland and Libby share the latest on U-M recruiting below.

Goodwin will make his decision this Sunday. Michigan has a 97.9 percent chance of landing him, per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Both Holland and Libby have predictions in for the Wolverines.

Here is what Holland had to say about Goodwin’s recruitment.

“I think NC State, Virginia Tech and some other schools in that Top 7 he released offer him the opportunity to be the guy,” Holland said. “He can be a true cornerstone because they are lesser programs. But at the end of the day, there are so many ties to Michigan. I also think Channing Goodwin can be a very effective player at Michigan despite the underwhelming Industry ranking… I have no reason to think it’s not Michigan.”

At 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, Goodwin is ranked as the No. 77 wide receiver and No. 433 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 14 overall recruit in the state of North Carolina.

Goodwin has an On3 NIL Valuation of $29K with 5.1K followers across all platforms. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Michigan has 15 commits in its 2024 recruiting class — Top 100 Rochester (Mich.) Adams tight end Brady Prieskorn, Top 100 Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day quarterback Jadyn Davis, Top 100 Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller running back Jordan Marshall, On300 Harper Woods (Mich.) High defensive back Jacob Oden, On300 Nashville (Tenn.) Ensworth linebacker Mason Curtis, On300 Bellevue (Wash.) High tight end Hogan Hansen, On300 Austin (Texas) Vandegrift offensive tackle Blake Frazier, On300 Kansas City (Mo.) Rockhurst offensive tackle Andrew Sprague, four-star Cheshire (Conn.) Academy defensive lineman Jerod Smith, four-star Avon (Ohio) High offensive lineman Luke Hamilton, three-star Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier defensive lineman Ted Hammond, three-star Wallingford (Conn.) Choate Rosemary Hall defensive lineman Manuel Beigel, three-star Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward offensive lineman Ben Roebuck, three-star Ponte Vedra (Fla.) High offensive lineman Jake Guarnera and three-star South Park (Pa.) High linebacker Zach Ludwig.

The class is currently ranked No. 5 nationally in the On3 industry rankings and No. 2 in the Big Ten behind Ohio State.
