Wisconsin has coveted Golden State prospect on campus for official visit

Earlier this month, Wisconsin landed its quarterback in the 2026 cycle, picking up a commitment from San Juan Capistrano (Calif.) Mater Dei three-star quarterback Ryan Hopkins. The Badgers could look to build a Golden State pipeline.
Another impressive California recruit is giving the Badgers a look in Anaheim Servite three-star tight end Luke Sorensen. In fact, the 6-foot-4, 230-pounder announced on Wednesday via X that he’s in Madison for his official visit with the Big Ten program:
Sorensen has a busy schedule of official visits ahead, but Wisconsin has the opportunity to kick things off with a bang this week. UCLA (May 9), Penn State (May 30), Texas A&M (June 6), Miami (June 13) and Nebraska (June 20) are also set to receive OVs. The Nittany Lions, USC and the Aggies are among those who have had him on campus as of late.
It’s the in-state Trojans who are now trending for the tight end, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. On3 VP of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong logged a pick in favor of Lincoln Riley and Co. earlier this month. USC extended an offer to Sorensen on April 3.
“What’s most important to me is how a program develops players, the atmosphere and the team culture,” Sorenson told On3’s Chad Simmons earlier this month.
He is the No. 712 overall prospect and No. 41 TE in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 66 player in California.

Head coach Luke Fickell and the Badgers have six commits in their 2026 class to date. Hopkins is the top-ranked pledge in the fold, checking in as the No. 455 recruit and No. 26 QB in the cycle.
A trio of Indiana prospects bolster the list: Mishawaka Penn three-star wide receiver Tayshon Bardo, Fishers three-star cornerback Carsen Eloms and Merrillville Andrean three-star interior offensive lineman Benjamin Novak.
Richton Park (Ill.) Rich Township three-star EDGE Carmelow Reed is the No. 14 player in Illinois and a top-600 recruit overall. Midlothian (Va.) Benedictine three-star offensive tackle Maddox Cochrane rounds out the class.
To date, the class ranks No. 42 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. That’s good for No. 13 in the Big Ten, ahead of Rutgers, Michigan State, Purdue, Northwestern and Indiana early on.
Last cycle, Wisconsin signed the nation’s No. 27 class, headlined by four blue-chippers, including four-star EDGE Nicolas Clayton and four-star linebacker Mason Posa, both of whom finished as top-200 prospects.
