Will Levis changes phone number as fans flood with him texts after rough start to season

Will Levis changes phone number as fans flood with him texts after rough start to season

It’s been a rough season so far for Will Levis. In his first two games, the former Kentucky quarterback made three very bad turnovers. The first was a pick-six to give the Chicago Bears the win in Week 1. It got worse on Sunday vs. the New York Jets. On third-and-goal in the second quarter, Levis fumbled the ball in mid-air, a turnover so bad that Titans head coach Brian Callahan was captured by cameras yelling, “What the **** are you doing?” at his starting quarterback. On the first play of the Titans’ next drive, Levis threw an interception on a deep ball down the sideline. Not great, Bob.

Needless to say, Levis is facing plenty of criticism this week, both from the media and fans (even his ex-girlfriend seemingly took a dig at him on TikTok). Normally, you can avoid that by tuning out social media — which Levis has done — but he told reporters today that his phone number leaked out, leading to a barrage of texts from angry fans and/or trolls. That’s one problem he fixed this afternoon.

“The biggest thing I’m actually doing today is getting a new phone number. I don’t know how my number got out there to fans but I’ve gotten a lot of texts. That will be nice to shut that part behind me. I haven’t been on social the last couple of weeks.

“But yeah, I think that’s the healthiest way to go about it and I don’t want or care to see the things that people say about me. I’ll keep chugging along regardless of what they say. It sucks that the world is the way that it is and looking forward to having some privacy.”

After the game, Callahan said he didn’t regret yelling at Levis, who “is a grown-up and knows better” than to make a critical error like that. Today, Levis told reporters he was telling himself the same thing as he walked off the field.

“I didn’t bat an eye at it,” Levis said of Callahan’s outburst. “I took the coaching. I was yelling at myself in my head the same way he was yelling at me. I know that it’s just an emotional response that we all have after certain things like that and we went right back to it and he obviously had some confidence in me right on that next play taking that shot.”

Levis vowed to “rewire his brain” after the game, which he explained a little further to reporters today.

“Just situational football and knowing the times when you have to be uber-careful with the ball. Whether that’s when you’re in scoring position or third down where the throw you’re trying to make isn’t even going to get you a first down. I just have to get my brain a little more clear.”

Levis’ next opportunity comes Sunday when the Titans host the Green Bay Packers. Clear eyes, full hearts, please don’t turn the ball over.
