Why Michigan is a top school for priority WR target Elijah Moore

Why Michigan is a top school for priority WR target Elijah Moore

Elijah Moore is down to five schools.

The three-star wide receiver out of Olney (Md.) Good Counsel named Florida, Florida State, Maryland, Michigan and Ohio State as his finalists.

So why did U-M make the cut?

“Michigan is a top school for me because Coach (Ron) Bellamy has built that relationship with me,” Moore said. “We’re close. He texts me all the time. I also like Michigan as a school. I was at the Michigan-Ohio State game last year at Ohio State, and I was impressed.”

As Moore mentioned, Michigan wide receivers coach and area recruiter Ron Bellamy has been making a big impression on him throughout the cycle.

Bellamy recently stopped by Good Counsel to check in on Moore and is in contact with him on a weekly basis.

“He loves me,” Moore said. “He just wants me to come up there and chill with him and hang out with him. He wants me to get a feel for the environment and players. He’s already told me a lot like what the roster is looking like and things like that. He asks me about my family. We just have a really good relationship.”

The next step for Moore is getting on campus.

Moore was supposed to be at Michigan for its annual spring game last month but had to cancel due to travel issues. Moore, however, is close to locking in his official visit date and can’t wait to get his first in-person look at the program.

“I’m looking at Michigan for the first or second weekend of June,” Moore said. “I know Coach (Chris) Partridge and Coach Bellamy, but I just want to meet some of the guys and chill on campus. I want to meet Coach (Jim) Harbaugh. All my teammates that have gone up there have said they love it.”

Fellow Good Counsel products Aaron Chiles, an On300 linebacker, and Darien Mayo, a Top 100 EDGE, both visited Michigan earlier this year and are trending towards U-M on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

And yes, Moore has talked to them about linking up at the next level.

“We talk about it all the time,” Moore said. “They are both dogs. They are the best in the country. Mayo is a 6-foot-7 defensive end. Chiles is the best linebacker in the country. It would be great to play with them again.”

Moore is looking to make his final decision in August.

At 6-foot-4, 190 pounds, Moore is ranked as the No. 93 wide receiver and No. 627 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Rankings.
