Who’s next in 2024? A closer look at five commitment candidates

Michigan is coming off another important win on the recruiting trail.
The Wolverines landed four-star Deerfield Beach (Fla.) High EDGE Elias Rudolph on Monday. Rudolph picked Michigan over fellow finalists Miami and Pitt.
Michigan now has 25 commits and boasts the No. 6 recruiting class nationally. But of course, Michigan fans are already thinking about the next man up.
So who are some other 2024 prospects that could jump on board and continue to build the momentum? Here are five candidates.
WR Gatlin Bair, Burley (Idaho) High
A Top 100 recruit, Bair is down to Boise State, Michigan and Oregon with about a month to go before his decision. While no date has been set, Bair is looking to make his verbal pledge before his high school team starts camp in early August. Bair made official visits to both Michigan and Oregon last month and will make a multi-day unofficial visit to Boise State later this month. Michigan has a 71.9 percent chance of landing him, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, but there is still work to do.
WR Jordan Shipp, Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day
A three-star recruit, Shipp is set to announce his decision on July 16 and is down to Michigan, NC State and North Carolina. Michigan has a 79.0 percent lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine and made a huge impression on two June visits. However, North Carolina hosted him for his final official visit and seemed to gain some momentum. There is still plenty of optimism around Ann Arbor, but North Carolina is doing its best to make things interesting down the stretch.
OL Bennett Warren, Fort Bend (Texas) Christian
Michigan has an 80.9 percent chance to land Warren, per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, coming out of June official visits. Remember, the four-star prospect named Michigan his leader following the spring game but backed off of that statement. He once again named U-M his leader following his official visit. However, both Tennessee and Texas A&M have gained some optimism in recent weeks. Michigan is still very much a possibility here, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see him end up in the SEC. Warren is looking to make a decision at some point in the next month.
EDGE Jacob Smith, Cheshire (Conn.) Academy
A four-star recruit, Smith is the twin brother of four-star Michigan defensive line commit Jerod Smith. All signs point to Jacob also ended up at U-M. However, Jacob wants to make his own decision and is still strongly considering Nebraska, the only other school that received a June official visit. Jacob is looking to make his decision at some point this month or in early August. U-M has a 94.0 percent chance of landing him, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
CB Aaron Scott, Springfield (Ohio) High
A Top 100 prospect, Scott is down to Michigan and Ohio State after seeing both schools for official visits in back-to-back weeks and is set to make his decision on July 30. This one is truly a coin flip. Ohio State has the lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction machine and is putting the pressure on Scott to stay closer to home. However, Scott loves Michigan’s defensive scheme and sees the opportunity for early playing time. Michigan is going to continue to recruit him hard over the phone for the next couple of weeks as it looks to pull out a massive win over rival OSU.
