Who could be next to commit to the Florida Gators?
Commitment No. 20 is on the board for the Florida Gators as 4-star edge Jayden Woods flipped from Penn State on Friday afternoon. Billy Napier’s program now has the No. 15 recruiting class in the country for On3. But with National Signing Day less than one week away, there still is work to be done. Who could be the next 2025 recruit to jump in the boat? We’ve done our best to identify the most realistic possibilities but this deep in the cycle there aren’t any layups — and surprises always seem to be right around the corner. For what it’s worth, Woods was on this list Thursday and he committed to Florida a day later.
Onis Konanbanny, CB, Columbia (S.C.) Heathwood Hall Episcopal School (Tennessee commit)
With both Florida and Tennessee both pushing, it seems as if Konanbanny genuinely is torn. One thing is clear; the Gators have become a major threat down the stretch. The Vols hope to get him on campus Sunday. Georgia also is involved. Tennessee wants to slow any momentum Florida gained when he officially visited the Gators last weekend. There is optimism in Gainesville as that visit apparently went well, even though Konanbanny’s mother wasn’t with him. We’re told that isn’t a huge deal. Konanbanny played seven-on-seven with multiple Florida commits and they’re also recruiting him hard. This one could go either way but with Florida buzzing nationally it would not be a shock to see him end up in Gainesville. It’s too close to call right now.
Solomon Thomas, IOL, Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines (FSU commit)
Thomas has visited the Gators multiple times, most recently Nov. 16 with his mother for the Florida-LSU game. He then visited LSU last weekend. Several of our sources think the Gators have a realistic chance with Thomas. Same goes for numerous Florida commits. Thomas is a priority recruit and the Gators are making him feel as such. He has made it clear publicly NIL will play a major role and that hasn’t scared off Florida. But FSU isn’t going away and with the ‘Noles backs against the wall, you know they’ll pull out all the stops when Thomas visits them this weekend to watch FSU face UF. A Thomas flip would be the proverbial icing on the cake during a huge Gators surge in recent weeks.
Tavaris Dice, OT/OG, Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes (Auburn commit):
On the Auburn side, there no doubt is confidence here after Dice visited the Tigers last weekend and has said all the right things in subsequent interviews. And there should be. But Dice has visited Florida enough — most recently for the LSU game — that the Gators still can’t be overlooked. We’re not saying Dice will flip. In fact, he might not. But as Signing Day approaches, the Gators continue to swing away and hope for the best. Communication between the two sides continues. The odds are in Auburn’s favor, but Florida has no intention of going away.
