Who could be next out of Florida for the Texas Longhorns?

The Texas Longhorns are enjoying plenty of success recruiting the state of Florida under Steve Sarkisian.
Sarkisian and staff signed a pair of players out of the Sunshine State in the 2023 class in Cedric Baxter Jr. and Payton Kirkland. The success of Sarkisian, Tashard Choice and staff have carried over the 2024 cycle as well with three commitments from the ultra talented state.
Running back Jerrick Gibson, defensive tackle D’Antre Robinson and punter Michael Kern give the Longhorns five commitments out of Florida in two cycles. And Texas may not be done yet.
Inside Texas takes a look at who could be next out of the Sunshine State to pick the Longhorns.
Solomon Williams, EDGE, Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day
The 2024 On3 Industry Ranking 4-star made a two-day unofficial visit July 27-28. The Longhorns hit a home run on the visit, and are expected to receive a fall official visit. The 6-foot-2.5, 250-pounder is talking to Texas about weekends for a fall official visit. September 17 and September 30 are both being talked about.
Williams followed the Texas visit with a trip to Texas A&M. He made June official visits to UCF and Alabama, and an unofficial visit to Oregon.
Williams is scheduled to be in Tuscaloosa when the Crimson Tide host the Longhorns. Oregon is a team that got a big boost by the move to the Big 10 with Williams.
Brandon Brown, DL, Melbourne (Fla.) Eau Gallie
Texas defensive line coach Bo Davis extended an offer to the explosive disruptor the first week of march.
Davis followed up with a visit to Eau Gallie High in mid-May to see the 6-foot-0.5, 275-pounder in person. The Longhorns are working to get Brown on campus during the season.
Brown went on a visit tour the last week of July. Stops included Florida State, LSU, Miami, Georgia and Alabama. He camped at Texas A&M in mid-June.
Brown is an On3 Industry Ranking 4-star in the 2025 class.
Jyon Simon, DL, Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines
Texas will be recruiting defensive linemen in the Sunshine State in future years. Simon became the second 2025 defensive line prospect from the state offered in mid-July.
The 6-foot-2.5, 265-pounder spoke with Inside Texas’ Justin Wells spoke with Simon in the days following the offer made by Bo Davis.
“I’m looking forward to getting very familiar with the (Texas) staff in the fall,” Simon told Inside Texas. “Unfortunately, I already have a visit to Auburn in late July. But definitely in the future would love to come visit Texas.”
Texas defensive line coach Bo Davis extended the offer. What was his message for the Jacksonville native?
“Coach Bo was telling me how much they liked my film,” said Simon. “How he liked how dominant I was off the ball and pursuing to the ball.”
D.J. Pickett, S, Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day
The 5-star and No. 8 ranked prospect overall in the 2025 class made an unofficial visit to Texas March 3.
Texas assistant Jeff Banks has been recruiting Picket for nearly two years after offering in November of 2021. Banks and Blake Gideon are now heading up the Texas efforts following the March visit.
The 6-foot-2 safety with 10.75 100-meter speed has been on the majority of blue blood campuses around the country in the last few months. Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami and Ohio State are considered the early favorites.
Jovarious Lundy, ATH, Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day
The 5-foot-10.5 athlete that projects to safety was offered by the Longhorns way bak in early May of 2022.
Lundy, ranked No. 283 (4-star) nationally, is a teammate of Texas 2024 target Solomon Williams. Lundy has continued to have the attention of the Texas staff since that time. His most recent offer was August 4 by Kansas.
Inside Texas expects the Longhorns to expend more offers to prospects in the 2025 class during the 2023 season.
