Which players could represent South Carolina at SEC Media Days?

In just two weeks South Carolina will make the trip up to Nashville for its annual sprint through SEC Media Days.
The Gamecocks haven’t officially announced which three athletes will accompany Shane Beamer up to the event on July 20–he typically airs on seniority and impact on the program–but it’s always fun to speculate and take some guesses.
Here are a few guys the Gamecocks could opt to bring up to Nashville later this month.
Spencer Rattler
After Rattler didn’t go to SEC Media Days last year, Rattler seems like a shoo-in to go to Nashville this season. The Gamecocks’ passer is coming back for another year and is coming off a prolific end of the season.

Rattler was electric in wins over Tennessee and Clemson and is one of the bigger names returning at the quarterback position in the SEC.
He’s an established leader on this team and, now that he’s been in the program for a year, seems like a pretty easy choice for the Gamecocks’ representative during talking season.
Antwane Wells Jr.
Wells had one of the best receiving seasons in recent history at South Carolina and, like Rattler, is back for another year. Wells is getting a good bit of buzz this offseason as one of the better receivers in the SEC. And the Gamecocks could opt to send him to Nashville.
Juju McDowell
If there’s a better, more charismatic player in front of the media better than McDowell, we haven’t met him yet.
McDowell is one of the old heads now on this roster, coming into his junior season with the Gamecocks. He’s expected to have his role grow even more than last year. Because he’s one of the older offensive players and really good in front of the camera, the Gamecocks could opt to send him.
Tonka Hemingway
He’s another one who seems like a favorite to get the nod, a homegrown talent and one of the bigger returning names on this South Carolina defense. He is coming off the best season of his career and is expected to anchor the Gamecocks’ defensive line.

Sending Hemingway would not only be sending one of the more recognizable defenders on next year’s roster. And it would be a nice honor for him heading into his senior season.
Marcellas Dial
Dial opted to use his COVID year and play one more season at South Carolina, something the Gamecocks coaches could reward by sending him to SEC Media Days. He’s experienced talking to the media and is someone the Gamecocks are going to rely on heavily this season.
Jordan Strachan
Strachan was expected to be a big piece of last year’s team before the injury. And now he’s coming into his third year with the program
His story is incredible–a former defensive back turned high-level EDGE rusher that’s battled injuries–and would be cool to tell that at SEC Media Days during the Gamecocks’ rounds. Plus, he’s a senior and South Carolina could reward him with that trip to Nashville.
Mitch Jeter or Kai Kroeger
Both of these specialists have been great during their time at South Carolina. And Kroeger could be one of the two or three best punters in the game this season.
Special teams have become a vital piece of the Gamecocks’ identity under Shane Beamer and Pete Lembo. So why not send a specialist to Media Days?
