Which Miami Hurricanes commits are close to earning their fourth star?

Thirteen of Miami’s sixteen commits in the 2024 recruiting class are listed as three-star recruits, but after On3’s most recent recruiting rankings update, several players are close to earning a four-star rank.
Two Miami commits have 89 player grades — the highest three-star rating a player can have in the On3 recruiting database — and could slingshot to a four-star rating with strong senior campaigns. Three more Miami commits have 88 player grades and are in similar positions.
Ryan Mack | 3-star CB | Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas | No. 601 national recruit, No. 64 CB in On3 Industry Ranking | 5-foot-11, 150 pounds | Player grade: 89
+++ Mack actually dropped out of the On300 and slid from a four-star recruit to a three star in the last recruiting update, but he can still climb back in with a strong senior season. He has tremendous length and physicality for only being 5-foot-11, and he’s proven himself as an intelligent defensive back who understands assignments in zone coverages. Mack may be on the outside looking in at a four-star rating for now, but it’s still within reach.
Vincent Shavers | 3-star LB | Miami (Fla.) Central | No. 569 national recruit, No. 58 LB in On3 Industry Ranking | 6-foot-0, 205 pounds | Player grade: 89
+++ Shavers has been an interesting prospect to watch in the 2024 cycle. It had initially appeared Miami had cooled on him before taking his commitment in May, but he looked much improved when we saw him at one of the Hurricanes’ 7-on-7 tournaments last month. If he continues to develop, a four-star rating will be a very attainable goal.
Cam Pruitt | 3-star LB | Theodore (Al.) | No. 402 national recruit, No. 39 LB in On3 Industry Ranking | 6-foot-2, 185 pounds | Player grade: 88
+++ Pruitt is one of our favorite three-star commits in this cycle (and definitely my favorite, personally). Pruitt is an absolute game wrecker who attacks ball carriers with reckless abandonment, loves contact and is always hungry for a big play, and his body type suggests he’s one offseason away from being physically ready for the field. His high school coach holds him in extremely high regard and moves him across the defense, and he may be just a few good games from earning his fourth star.
Elija Lofton | 3-star TE | Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman | No. 326 national recruit, No. 23 TE in On3 Industry Ranking | Player grade: 88
+++ Lofton is listed as a four-star prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking despite being a three-star recruit in the On3 recruiting database, and he certainly has the playmaking ability of a blue-chip prospect. He’s earned the respect of players like Jeremiah Smith, the No. 1 recruit in the 2024 class, and turned heads in Coral Gables. The Hurricanes envision using him at tight end.
Isaiah Thomas | 3-star S | Toronto (ON) Clearwater Academy International | No. 604 national recruit, No. 61 S in On3 Industry Ranking | 6-foot-2, 195 pounds | Player grade: 88
+++ Thomas is an intriguing prospect who needs some refinement, but he’s an explosive senior campaign away from earning a spot as a blue-chip recruit. His size and natural playmaking both check the boxes, and a little more player development and a strong start to his senior season could change his rating.
