Which Florida targets have a commitment date?

With the season approaching, numerous 2025 prospects are planning to commit before the fall.

Some of them are considering the Florida Gators. Recruiting is always fluid and can change by the hour, but the Gators are expected to have a hat on the table for key targets.

Below are those Florida targets with a confirmed decision date.

3-star DL Jarquez Carter, Newberry (Fla.) High
Commitment Date: July 18
Finalists: Florida, Miami, Ohio State, UCF and Penn State
The Buzz: Unfortunately for the nearby Gators, Carter recently told us they are trailing the other finalists. He wants to see more activity at his position rather than gap control. If those changes are made in-season, Carter says they will make a big move in his recruitment. Also, by living just down the road from Gainesville, he will likely be at multiple home games regardless of his commitment status. Florida is playing long ball here and should be in the mix more down the stretch.

5-star S Trey McNutt, Shaker Heights (Ohio) High
Commitment Date: July 19
Finalists: Florida, Ohio State, Oregon, USC and Texas A&M
The Buzz: The Gators received an official visit and climbed McNutt’s leaderboard fairly quickly; however, I’m not expected them to win out for the Midwest native. In addition to that, the in-state Buckeyes are not trending as the leader either, as Oregon holds a commanding lead in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Florida would be ecstatic to land McNutt, but that is not expected to happen.

4-star WR Vernell Brown III, Orlando (Fla.) Jones
Commitment Date: July 21
Finalists: Florida, Florida State, Ohio State and Miami
The Buzz: Much of the attention remains on the Gators ahead of next Sunday’s decision. Brown is a well-known legacy recruit with several ties to the university, but Florida has done a good job of separating that and prioritizing Brown for his strong ability at wide receiver. This is one of the best pass catchers this cycle and one who could ultimately earn a fifth star. Unless I come across different intel, I’m rolling with the Florida Gators here.

4-star S Lagonza Hayward, Lyons (Ga.) Toombs County
Commitment Date: July 27
Finalists: Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina
The Buzz: This is a recruitment that pretty much changed after each official visit in June. Tennessee was the school trending heavily to enter the month; however, Florida pulled ahead after its official and had South Carolina closely behind. The Volunteers received the final official visit though and are back trending as the leader. Them receiving the final visit was always a factor. Safety is a priority for Florida this cycle and Hayward is near the top of the wish list, so they are pushing hard.

4-star S Bryce Fitzgerald, Miami Christopher Columbus
Commitment Date: Aug 16
Finalists: Florida, Florida State, Miami and LSU
The Buzz: I’m expecting Fitzgerald’s decision to come down to the Seminoles and Gators. As of today though, I’m giving the slight edge to Mike Norvell‘s program. They have been more consistent from the start, but Florida is definitely still in this. There is a chance Fitzgerald attends the Grill in the ‘Ville cookout on July 27 as well. That could end up being a difference maker. The Miami native is a top priority in the secondary and loved Florida as a kid, so we are keeping close tabs here. It’s close at the top.
