Where Auburn stands in elite DL Jourdin Crawford’s top 12

Where Auburn stands in elite DL Jourdin Crawford’s top 12

It went somewhat unnoticed that Jourdin Crawford, a 4-star 2025 defensive lineman from Birmingham (Ala.) Parker, dropped his top twelve over the weekend. No, a top twelve is not a big cut. Auburn Live has been tracking Crawford, though, and the Tigers appear to be near the top.

Crawford is currently the No. 204 overall recruit in the country, the No. 21 defensive lineman, and the No. 12 best player in the state of Alabama for the 2025 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

Crawford was recently at Auburn for its last home game against Samford. Since that visit, he has released a top 12 of Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Clemson, Colorado, Miami, and Florida.

According to our intel, this very well could be an Auburn, Texas, Miami battle with the rest of the top 12 trailing behind. In recent weeks, especially after his Auburn visit, the Tigers have had growing confidence in landing Crawford.

As of right now, we give Auburn a very slight edge with a chance to run with it. He has visited Auburn more than any other school. A source tells Auburn Live that Crawford very well favors staying close to home as well.

Two strengths

— Crawford is an interior defensive lineman all the way. In fact, he is not a versatile guy and that may have hurt his stock with Auburn at first. Things have changed as he has proven to be a problem in the middle of the defense for Parker.

— Crawford has shown some surprising athleticism for an interior defensive lineman. He lines up at wildcat quarterback and has scored in a big game this season. He also has a scoop and score touchdown in which he showed some good speed running with the ball. Crawford is a strong nose/3-technique prospect. One of the best in the 2025 class in my opinion.

One area for improvement

— Crawford, as a nose guard, is about as solid as you can ask at this level. If he wants to improve his stock as a recruit, he needs to prove he can pass rush from different spots. He is not an elite pass rusher, but he is a run stuffer. Auburn needs versatility, but it also needs the run stuffer, just in a smaller amount. Crawford is somewhat typecast in that spot, but he is extremely valuable.
