What we’re hearing: Kansas State visits loom

KANSAS STATE VISITOR

KSO has been told by multiple sources that Jerome Tang and Kansas State will host at least one visitor this week and maybe two. We are unable to clearly state who it is that will make it to the Manhattan campus, but the only two targets we have been able to link K-State to are Daimion Collins and Rayj Dennis.

Collins is a big that has played very sparingly at Kentucky in his first two years on campus. He endured a personal hardship that impacted his ability to see the floor this past season. He was a five-star prospect that played high school ball in Texas before signing with the SEC blueblood.

Dennis was the MAC Player of the Year this past season at Toledo before entering his name into the transfer portal. A native of Illinois, he averaged about 20 points, six assists and four rebounds per game in 2022-2023 for the Rockets.

He had a stint at Boise State before arriving at the northwest Ohio college town.

NOTES ON DENNIS

Specifically, one source shared that it is expected that Kansas State will host two visitors this weekend. Another source expressed the knowledge of one and another divulged a second. We feel comfortable with the information, though we can’t lock down who it is without a shadow of a doubt.

However, K-State has only been linked to Collins and Dennis at this point.

After some digging, it is believed that three other suitors for Dennis are Illinois, DePaul and Baylor. Along with Kansas State, those are the four programs the most involved with him. Most plugged in believe he favors Brad Underwood and the Fighting Illini but is willing to listen and hear out other coaching staffs.

After graduating from Toledo this past weekend, Dennis is anticipated to take multiple visits.

WHO K-STATE DEFEATED

Switching gears, we also discovered new information regarding recent Kansas State running back commit John Price of Blue Valley. He picked Chris Klieman and the Wildcats after visits to both Manhattan and to Iowa.

However, it was not Kirk Ferentz and the Hawkeyes that finished in second for his services. Mike Gundy and Oklahoma State were also pursuing the Johnson County star and had him on campus a couple of times. The Cowboys provided K-State with the stiffest competition.
