What we’re hearing: Contract extension for Kansas State HC Jerome Tang nearly complete

Another Kanas State injury report
Before diving into some of the football personnel and a note on the basketball front, it is important to update the Kansas State injuries with just a little over two weeks remaining before the regular season arrives in Manhattan.
Most of it has already been addressed by the K-State coaching staff.
The outlook on all three of Christian Duffie, Uso Seumalo and Daniel Green is about the same.
Head coach Chris Klieman share that he was hopeful that Duffie would be able to return to action during the first part of the season. We have heard similar, as he is making considerable progress and on or ahead of schedule.
The timetable on Green is expected to be similar, though I am a little optimistic that he may be even more on the mend. Monday’s practice revealed that he was already on the stationary bike and that can only be a positive sign.
Seumalo may be the furthest out, as he was not on the stationary bike like Duffie and Green. However, it is still not considered a long-term situation and Kansas State assistant Mike Tuiasosopo intimated that he would be back sooner rather than later.
It was mentioned that Ben Sinnott was not in pads at one point in recent video released by the K-State social media team. I did confirm that it was out of an abundance of caution and he’s considered 100 percent healthy.
Hadley Panzer/Kansas State Athletics
Offensive line battle
Is the right guard spot locked down? In the only glimpse that appeared to be some semblance of a Kansas State depth chart, the offensive line was KT Leveston, Cooper Beebe, Hayden Gillum, Hadley Panzer and Carver Willis from left to right.
Does that mean it is set in stone? I would guess that Klieman and K-State offensive line coach Conor Riley would say that the spots have to be earned every day, and that is probably the case. They have always operated in that manner.
The right side is probably where it isn’t as cemented. Although, to be fair, Riley had no issue with sharing that Willis had sprinted ahead to fill in at right tackle. I’m under the impression that right guard is probably a bit tighter between Panzer and Taylor Poitier.
Tang and K-State close to deal
As mentioned by Kansas State athletics director Gene Taylor on a recent 3MAW Podcast (as part of the Kansas City Sports Network), substantial progress has been made between the school and head coach Jerome Tang on a new contract extension in the last month.
It is very, very close to the finish line, with most of the finer points being ironed out, such as compensation and the terms of the deal. The only details that are still being worked out are how some of the financial package is distributed and where, such as an LLC.
That is great news for a fan base and athletic department that has been energized since he was hired to be the coach in Manhattan. Not only are ticket sales through the roof, but he enjoyed instant success a year ago and is now already a beloved figure at K-State.
