West Virginia on Bob Huggins use of homophobic slur: The situation is under review
West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins has turned into the story of college basketball but for all the wrong reasons. Appearing on a Cincinnati radio show and using a homophobic slur when discussing Xavier fans, Huggins soon apologized for his actions.
Now, West Virginia has chimed in on the situation.
In a statement released by the athletic department, West Virginia says the situation is “under review” and “will be addressed.”
“Coach Huggins’ remarks today on a Cincinnati radio show were insensitive, offensive, and do not represent our university values,” the statement read. “Coach Huggins has since apologized. West Virginia does not condone the use of such language and takes such actions very seriously. The situation is under review and will be addressed by the university and its athletic department.”
