Weekend Miami Hurricanes commitment Cam Pruitt taking 2 more visits this week, may still have an “announcement” in July

Theodore (AL) LB Cam Pruitt committed to the Miami Hurricanes over the weekend. But the next week is going to be just as important for the Canes as what happened on Saturday when he gave coaches his pledge.

That’s because Pruitt is going ahead with his official visit plans to Arkansas starting today and then Mississippi this weekend. He says Mississippi State also remains a possible visit.

Is there anything for Miami to worry about?

“No, I’m solid but still taking visits,” Pruitt said.

With that said, Pruitt also says he may stick with a plan to announce a “final” decision July 15.

“I might still do an announcement that day,” he says, adding “Miami knows I’m going on these visits but I’m solid. It’s just to make sure of everything, that Miami is the right place.”

A December graduate, Pruitt says Miami coaches plan to use him at WILL, Sam and STAR.

“In high school I play all over the place,” he says.

Pruitt says the final piece of his decision to commit to Miami this weekend was LB coach Derek Nicholson.

“He wants me to ball out, be in the NFL,” Pruitt said. “After the meeting I had with coach DNick I just liked what he was doing and committed.”

Pruitt says heading into his Miami visit (which he took with his mother and high school coach) he wasn’t expecting to commit, but he was wowed to the point that by Saturday he was on board in the class. “It was just everything – the players, the coaches,’ he said. He was hosted by Corey Flagg and Francisco Mauigoa and says “They were good dudes. They said it’s a cool place, great activities there, they coach you well, have a coach that cares and things like that.”
