WATCH: Virginia Tech women’s basketball celebrates first Final Four in program history
Virginia Tech defeated Ohio State on Monday night to advance to its first ever Final Four with an 84-74 win.
Elizabeth Kitley had a double-double with 25 points and 24 rebounds plus three blocks while Georgia Amoore had 24 points on 7 of 19 shooting.
The No. 1-seeded Hokies advanced out of the Seattle Regional 3 by winning every game by at least nine points.
Virginia Tech is the last of the teams to earn its slot in the Final Four, which will be played this weekend in Dallas. The other three are Iowa, LSU and South Carolina.
The Gamecocks also won Monday night with a victory over Maryland. They will play the Hawkeyes in the Final Four while The Hokies will play the Tigers.
South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley said after her game Monday that she hopes LSU will win their game so they can have an All-SEC National Championship Game.
“I’m gonna to shout out to the SEC,” she said. “SEC is well-represented in the Final Four. Shout out to LSU. Let’s go do this thing. Let’s have an all-SEC finals.”
