WATCH: South Carolina pick up win in extra innings with walk-off hit
The SEC is known for wild top-ranked matchups regardless of the sport. And on Saturday, on the diamond, there was a clash between the No. 22 ranked Missouri Tigers and No. 11 South Carolina Gamecocks. The game needed extra innings to be decided, but the Gamecocks pulled out the narrow victory at the end with this walk-off hit.
With the bases loaded in the bottom of the 12th inning, freshman infielder and right-handed pitcher Ethan Petry stepped to the plate with the bases loaded. On a 1-1 count, Petry knocked the ball straight up the middle where the Tigers’ defense had a gap in their coverage. That hit was good enough for a base hit and for the freshmen to call game.
