WATCH: Mark Pope’s press conference after Kentucky’s loss to Clemson

WATCH: Mark Pope’s press conference after Kentucky’s loss to Clemson

Give Clemson credit: from the rowdy atmosphere at Littlejohn Coliseum to their physical play, the Tigers controlled the game almost from start to finish. Kentucky’s 70-66 loss ended the Cats’ undefeated start to the season and gave Mark Pope and his team plenty to work on moving forward.

Afterward, Pope discussed how Clemson’s frontcourt set the tone inside early, leading to a 31-21 rebounding advantage at the half. Kentucky outrebounded Clemson by the same margin in the second half, 23-13, but even then, without the three-point shots falling, Kentucky just couldn’t capitalize on their opportunities.

“We never got into a great flow,” Pope said. “Again, credit Clemson for that. We never got into a great flow. We didn’t spend a lot of time looking like us. A lot of that is a credit to Clemson for creating the environment and then a lot of it was just us not knowing how to surgically attack that yet.”

Pope spent a lot of time talking about rebounding — which will continue to be a big focus in practice moving forward –how Lamont Butler’s foul trouble hurt the Cats, how proud he was of his team for not giving up at the end, and the atmosphere at Littlejohn Coliseum. You can see it all below.
