WATCH: LSU commit Dashawn McBryde highlights

2024 Denham Springs (La.) safety LSU commit Dashawn McBryde made a big splash as a junior and continued that in his offseason before his senior year. Check out his highlights from his junior year below.
The four-star safety is coming off a big junior season with 46 tackles, four tackles for loss, nine interceptions, nine pass breakups, four forced fumbles and two touchdowns on defense.
The charge from LSU was led by names like head coach Brian Kelly, safeties coach Kerry Cooks, quarterbacks coach and area recruiter Joe Sloan, Director of Player Personnel Will Redmond and Director of Player Development Jordan Arcement.
“(Kelly) was just saying how he wants me to come to LSU. I like how he goes about his business and how he handles everything as a coach,” McBryde said when he committed. “Coach Cooks is a very intelligent man in his gameplan, which is something I like. Sloan is a good man to talk to. He’s also a very good coach as well.”
To stay in-state for him was a great feeling for him.
“Having LSU look at me since the fall really ingrained in my mind that they wanted me and my relationships with the coaching staff are amazing,” McBryde added about his commitment. “The visits to LSU really brought to life what all the hype was about. The many legends leaving and still returning to LSU are just amazing to see because you can really see how much LSU has done for them and how much they love it there.”
“You know playing for LSU is just a blessing for my family,” the safety continued. “We only live about 30 minutes from Tiger Stadium, so it won’t be much of an effort for them to get them down to watch me on Saturdays. That played a big role in my decision because I know come from a big LSU family.”

On3 moves Dashawn McBryde up into Top 100
McBryde made a move up from No. 194 overall to No. 63 overall. In addition, he’s now the No. 6 safety in the country. Overall, On3 has him highest out of the rankings services, according to the On3 Industry Comparison. He’s now the highest-rated commitment for the Tigers on On3.
On3 director of scouting Charles Power identified McBryde as a prospect who has done it all on the field, in the camp circuit, and just overall when it came to a safety group that saw a good bit of changes.
“We did a thorough audit of the safety position. There are a lot of changes in this safety group,” Power said. “I think Dashawn McBryde separated himself in large part due to the size and athleticism. He’s 6-3, close to 200 pounds, highly-athletic. Tested really well on the camp circuit. I just think has a ton of upside. His upside is as high as any safety in the cycle.”
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, McBryde ranks as the No. 100 overall prospect and No. 6 safety in the nation.
