WATCH: Kenny Brooks, Amelia Hassett recap 84-55 win over Georgia + KSR’s Rapid Reaction

Kentucky got a much-needed bounce back win against Georgia, defeating the Lady Bulldogs 84-55 as they swept the season series. Considering the adversity of playing three games in seven days, Kenny Brooks believes that Sunday’s victory was a really good win.

“Really good win for us,” Brooks explained. “It was a very trying week. That was our, what, third game in seven days, and we knew it was gonna be very taxing, very trying. We went out, and Monday, we played against Ole Miss, and they’re a very physical basketball team — held our own for the most part of the game, and just didn’t finish it like we wanted to. Texas really got out of whack when — and Texas is a great basketball team — got out of whack when Clara Strack got in foul trouble. We were kind of playing catch up for the rest of the day.”

So, on the heels of back-to-back losses, Kentucky really needed to get things turned around against Georgia, which they did. It was a good, confidence-building game for many players on the team.

“We needed this game, and you know, we’ve got some kids who really needed to see the ball go through the basket. Amelia [Hassett] is one of them.”

Brooks also confirmed that Hassett was feeling under the weather over the course of the last week or do.

“She might sound like she’s possessed when she starts talking, but, you know, she’s had a long week,” Brooks explained. “She’s been really under the weather, and proud of her the way that she’s battled all week just to be available for us. Really good win for us, bounce back, did the things we needed to do, and got a lot of contributions from a lot of different places. So, we’ll take that. Take the day off tomorrow. I’m excited about a day off tomorrow and get ready for Missouri on Thursday.”
