Washington State SG Cedric Coward enters NCAA transfer portal

Washington State shooting guard Cedric Coward has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s Jamie Shaw reported. He will have one season of eligibility remaining at his next stop.

Coward transferred to the Cougars this past offseason after playing the previous two years at Eastern Washington. He received a medical redshirt after suffering a season-ending injury just six games into the year.

Prior to the injury, Coward was one pace to have one of the best seasons of his college career. He averaged 17.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists through those first six games, including scoring 30 points in a Nov. 18 game against Northern Colorado.

The year before at Eastern Washington, Coward put up 15.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest on his way to being named first team All-Big Sky. He was considered the No. 38 overall player in the transfer portal according to On3 before committed to Washington State last offseason.

Coward played high school basketball at Central High in Fresno, California. He committed to Division III Willamette University for his first season and won the NWC Freshman of the Year after averaging 19.4 points and 12.0 rebounds per game.
