Warchant TV: Mike Norvell, Adam Fuller discuss first Florida State preseason scrimmage

Florida State held its first scrimmage of the preseason on Saturday night inside Doak Campbell Stadium, the ninth of twenty five practice sessions before its opener vs. Georgia Tech.

In his opening statement, head coach Mike Norvell complimented the play of the first team defense calling them disruptive. Norvell also mentioned the play of newcomers and specifically Elijah Moore and that as the scrimmage went on Jeremiah Byers, Robert Scott, Maurice Smith and Darius Washington saw their usage limited.

Defensive coordinator Adam Fuller felt his defense did not tackle to the best of their capability. He says the defense was able to perform better vs. the run but the pass rush did not meet his expectations.

Florida State has a regularly scheduled day off on Sunday and plans on resuming practice on Monday and will monitor the weather event headed towards Tallahassee.

Florida State opens the 2024 season in the Aer Lingus College Football classic vs. Georgia Tech on Aug. 24 in Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland.

The Seminoles finished the 2023 season 13-1 with an ACC Championship and its first New Year’s Six bowl berth in 7 seasons.

Florida State has added 14 players from the transfer portal and a high school recruiting class that finished 14th in the 2024 cycle. The 2025 early signing period for prep signees begins Wednesday December 4 and closes on December 6.
