VQ Pod: Reacting to NCAA ruling, previewing SEC Media Days for Tennessee

The long wait is finally over. On Friday, Tennessee learned of the NCAA’s final rulings in regards to the investigation into the program that took over 2.5 years and 30 months.

Among the highlights, the Vols football program was fined $8 million dollars, docked 28 scholarships and put on a five-year probation period. However, there was no bowl ban. Volquest further reacts to the news and what this means for Josh Heupel moving forward, both on the field and on the recruiting trail.

SEC Media Days are off and running from Nashville. Tennessee takes the podium on Thursday with head coach Josh Heupel, quarterback Joe Milton, tight end Jacob Warren and defensive tackle Omari Thomas. What should we expect this week and what will be the theme for the Vols on Thursday?

The team of Brent Hubbs, Austin Price, Eric Cain and Grant Ramey discuss it all on this week’s edition of the Volquest Podcast. It’s presented by Exterior Home Solutions. For a free estimate, give them a call at 865-524-5888.

Quote of the Pod

Brent Hubbs on the final punishments from Tennessee…

“Yeah, you see the Seinfeld GIF where everyone is running in the room and are dancing, that’s how Tennessee fans should feel right now. Regardless of if you like the outcome or don’t like the outcome, the reality is there is an outcome. Austin [Price] asked me Friday afternoon, what are you going to write for part of the team portion in the War Rooms moving forward? For the last 30 months, I’ve been writing something about the investigation and I’ve been writing for the past 87 days that it could be coming any day now. Finally, there’s resolution and it’s over. For Tennessee, that’s what it’s been looking for for a long time. For Josh Heupel, the negative recruiting should stop for the most part about the NCAA stuff. There’s no cloud or speed bump. There’s nothing blocking Josh Heupel and this football coaching staff from doing what they want to do on the field and in recruiting, there’s nothing that they have to overcome that[s out of their control now.”
