Volquest Podcast: Vols made some BIG fireworks this past academic year

On this Fourth of July holiday, the Volquest crew of Brent Hubbs, Rob Lewis, Eric Cain and Matt Ray reflect on some of the best plays and performances of Tennessee student-athletes from the past academic school year. Which plays/performances warranted the biggest fireworks?

The Tennessee win over Alabama in football starts the conversation with Jalin Hyatt’s five touchdowns and Chase McGrath’s game-winning field goal. Hendon Hooker’s play against Florida definitely produced some fireworks into the Knoxville skyline, as did Doneiko Slaughter’s defensive plays against Kentucky.

Which ones stand out the most? Which recruiting wins generated the most fireworks over the past year? The guys break it all down on a Tuesday. It’s presented by Exterior Home Solutions. For a free estimate, give them a call at 865-524-5888.

Quote of the Pod

Brent Hubbs on Jalin Hyatt’s performance and the Alabama win overall creating some fireworks…

“That’s a performance that everyone is going to be talking about for a long time. That whole game was a firework – the whole scene and everything about it. But for Jalin Hyatt to do what he did against a Nick Saban secondary and for Tennessee to torch them the way that it did, it certainly falls int that category. I think about the kick because it was so ugly. The game would have went into overtime, so the kick wasn’t the difference maker in terms of the game is over at that point or not. You would have played on. But who knows what would have happened in overtime. The kick stands out. For Alabama fans, it’s the drop by Jahmyr Gibbs that stands out at that point in time, too. Maybe for me in that game, and no offense to Jalin Hyatt, but it’s that last drive and the aggressiveness from Tennessee to play to win. It’s probably the biggest firework for me when you talk about the Alabama game specifically.”
