Volquest Podcast: Vols gearing up for big second half of June in recruiting, scheduling talk, NIL and more

The month of June is nearly half over, but it’s really just heating up on the recruiting front for Tennessee. The Vols hosted several underclassmen quarterbacks at a camp on Sunday including class of 2025 signal caller George MacIntyre

Tennessee is gearing up for two big weekends of official visitors. How key are official visits now in the recruiting process? Plus, the SEC is a day away from announcing opponents for the 2024 SEC 8 game schedule. What might those schedules look like? What will go into deciding those schedules?

On the NIL front, the IRS is trying to come after collectives 501c’s what does that mean now and possibly down the road.

Join Brent Hubbs, Austin Price, and Rob Lewis on this week’s edition of the Volquest Podcast as they discuss it all. The podcast is presented by Exterior Home Solutions. For a free estimate, give them a call at 865-524-5888.

Quote of the pod:

Austin Price how the month of June is set up for the Vols in recruiting….

“I’ll go with a NASCAR analogy. Tennessee is that car that’s really, really good that has laid back and is ready to make their move with 10 laps to go, but how many quality cars are in front of them. What’s the track look like? How clean is the track in front of them? I think for the most part they have survived a lot of stuff. You look at Amari Jefferson, I think Alabama has built themselves a lead there coming off his visit there this past weekend. Tennessee is going to have to make up some ground there. I think Tennessee remains fine with Mike Matthews thru his two visits to Clemson and Georgia. I think Tennessee is still in a good spot there on the whole, but again you are competing against the best of the best. You could land him. You could not land him. Ryan Wingo is going the distance. The tight ends you are after are going the distance. It will be interesting to see what these offensive linemen do who are going to be here the next couple of weeks…I have said let it play out. Let it play out. What does it look like the next 4-6 weeks. How many guys land at Tennessee?  How many guys go elsewhere?
