Quote of the Pod
Eric Cain on realistic expectations for Tennessee football in 2023…
“It’s almost like having blind faith in this offense. You never want to have blind faith because that’s when you get in trouble, but if you go back and look at his [Josh Heupel] stats as a play-caller or has a head coach in this league and for five years overall, he’s had top-10 offenses. He’s had a number of different quarterbacks and Joe Milton will be another different type of quarterback that he’s had. The run game has still been there, and the offense has still been explosive. So, when I think of expectations for Tennessee – I don’t think Tennessee will have the No. 1 offense in the country, but I still think it’s going to be up there. If you’re going to be scoring points – 37, 39 40 points per game – and your defense takes the step we think it will because you’re deeper in some spots, there’s no reason for me not to think the expectation shouldn’t be where you were last year. But, if you finish with nine regular-season wins, it’s not the end of the world. That’s not a bad season.”
