Volquest Podcast: NCAA hearing preview for Vols, university this week

Tennessee football just wrapped up spring practice 2023, so who were the biggest winners and losers over the last month? What are the main takeaways from the Orange & White Game and what were the recruits saying leaving campus?

The University of Tennessee is set to go in front of the NCAA later this week in Cincinnati to contest one of the Level I infractions placed against the school during the NCAA inquiry last year. Former head coach Jeremy Pruitt will have his hearing as well. What’s to come of this and when will we hear anything on a final resolution?

Join the Volquest crew for this week’s edition of the podcast – with Brent Hubbs, Austin Price, Rob Lewis and Eric Cain. It’s presented by Exterior Home Solutions. For a free estimate, give them a call at 865-524-5888.

What the Volquest guys are saying about Tennessee…

Austin Price on where Tennessee football is leaving spring practice…

“I think they are where they need to be in a lot of positions. I still think they are trying to figure out who they are on the offensive line. You like the young piece. Cameron Seldon is a guy. You like the young pieces Tennessee has, whether it be on the defensive side or even on the offensive side. I know Ethan Davis got hurt, but he will be back. I thought he had a really, really solid spring coming off his labrum tear in high school. I like the young pieces. I’m just not sure about the offensive front. I look at that and still think it’s a big question heading into fall.”

Brent Hubbs on potential interest in the portal and questions leaving camp…

“It will be interesting to see how active they are or what is realistic or unrealistic in this back window of the portal. Part of that depends on who is leaving Tennessee’s program as well. The bottom line for me, in terms of spring practice, they are leaving with the same questions they had entering spring practice. That is no shock to me. I don’t think there’s any way anyone thought the offensive line as going to get settled in 15 practices – and the same for the secondary. Do they have more pieces to pick from in the secondary? Absolutely they do. How does that shake out? We will see. I feel a little bit better about where they are at guard than I do at tackle, but there’s so surprise there’s no answers at those two spots right now.”
