USC Prediction Submitted for Georgia DL Transfer Bear Alexander

USC Prediction Submitted for Georgia DL Transfer Bear Alexander

USC is hosting a major visitor this weekend in former Georgia defensive lineman transfer Bear Alexander. Alexander arrived on Friday for an April 21-23 official visit with Lincoln Rileyand the Trojans.

The 6-foot-3, 305-pound defensive lineman is a huge target for USC and the top uncommitted player available in the transfer portal. Per On3 Alexander’s the No. 17 overall player and No. 1 defensive lineman to go into the portal this offseason.

Alexander finished his true freshman season as a role player along the Georgia defensive line. He made an impact in the national championship game, finishing with two tackles for loss, including a sack.

Last season Alexander saw action in 12 games. He had nine total tackles, including two sacks. He signed with Georgia as the nation’s No. 43 overall prospect and No. 7 defensive lineman in the 2022 recruiting class.

Moving quickly towards a commitment

USC is moving quickly here. Alexander told On3 this past Saturday that he planned to enter the transfer portal. His name officially appeared early this week. From the time news broke that he would go into the portal, USC emerged as a potential landing spot, alongside Texas. The Longhorns recently landed a commitment from Minnesota defensive tackle transfer Trill Carter.

On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) – USC Heavy Favorite

Based on what we’re hearing from multiple USC sources, the Trojans will be hard to beat in getting Alexander. Typically commitments come fairly quickly. Most recruiting processes for transfers last less than two weeks. That’s definitely holding true with Alexander with his plans to announce a new home on Sunday.

Alexander listed USC, Miami, Texas, Oregon, Colorado and Penn St., but he’s only taken one official visit since entering the transfer portal this week. Texas really never pursued and earned a commitment from Trill as mentioned above.

Even without sources aiding us with our intel on Alexander, it’s not overly difficult to do the recruiting math. Even a casual observer would likely guess USC’s the school to beat with Alexande. Him only taking one visit appears to be a dead give away, right? It’s not always a no-brainer despite where a prospects visited, but we believe it is a strong indicator of what’s ahead with Alexander.

So, we submitted a USC prediction for Alexander on Saturday at 65% confidence.

Heavily upgraded front 7 for the Trojans

USC’s front seven will be vastly improved regardless of who’s added, but a player of Alexander’s potential would make the offseason retooling of the USC defense appear to be a roaring success.

The additions of Anthony Lucas, Jack Sullivan, Kyon Barrs and Sam Greene should play huge dividends for USC this season. Shaun Nua signed a very underrated prep DL Class and has done impressively well with the transfer portal this offseason. Add to that Nua’s one of the premier D-Line coaches in the nation, and USC’s become an attractive spot in 2023 for defensive linemen.

Only time will tell when Alexander actually announces, but check back Sunday morning for THE LATEST.
