USC Among the Schools Standing Out for Elite 2026 RB Deshonne Redeaux

USC Among the Schools Standing Out for Elite 2026 RB Deshonne Redeaux

It’s still early in the recruiting process for Westlake Village (CA) Oaks Christian Four-Star Running Back Deshonne Redeaux, but college football programs from coast to coast are very familiar with extremely talented 5-foot-10 and 170-pound back.

Redeaux currently holds offers from more than 27 schools. Since Washington was the first school to offer him in November of his freshman year, USC, Michigan, Miami, Ohio St., Notre Dame, ASU, Stanford, Michigan St., AlabamaGeorgiaOklahomaOregon and UCLA among others have followed suit.

“I am so blessed,” Redeaux told On3. “So many schools are looking at me, offering me and believing in me. I am excited about this happening early.”

USC

Redeaux has been on campus at USC several times since last season, including two visits late this month. He attended a USC scrimmage at the Coliseum on April 13 with Oaks Christian teammates Hayden Lowe and Davon Benjamin, then the trio were back at the Coliseum April 20 for the USC Spring Game.

“What really stood out to me is the way the running backs are really excelling, especially the freshmen,” said Redeaux. “The transfer that just got in, he’s doing real good. He’s already in line with the team. Bryan Jackson’s looking real good and so is Quinten Joyner. So they got a real good running backs room at USC.”

Several other programs have Redeaux’s attention

In the fall, Redeaux took game visits to Washington and Oregon for their games against Boise State and Oregon State, respectively. Following these trips, the No. 4 player in California hopes to see multiple SEC schools in the coming weeks.

“Alabama, Georgia and Oklahoma are three I want to visit,” said Redeaux, the No. 53 overall prospect and No. 6 running back in the 2026 On3 Industry Ranking. “Getting out and seeing new things is what I want to do. I need to get to the South.”

Location or being close to home will not play a large role in Redeaux’s decision. Rather, he is focused on finding the best school for him on and off the field, no matter how close it is to California. The four-star already has an idea of how he will identify that program.

“It will be about how the staff and people treat me,” Redeaux said. “Life outside of football is also something I am looking hard at. I will know about the football stuff at the schools I am looking at, so I want to know more about life outside of football and if the coaches care about the players. Those types of things will matter.”

Anthony Jones Jr.

Redeaux had developed a very close relationship with Kiel McDonald over the past year, but he’s gotten off to a fast start with new USC RB coach Anthony Jones Jr.

“Me and Coach Jones, it feels like we built a real good relationship,” Redeaux said. “As soon as he got there, I think a few days after, I wanted to go check the pipes out and then we just connected. Me and coach Jones are really good.

“He’s a family man, he’s a good man and he’s a real good coach. He’s gonna take care of you and I feel like he got that family blood inside of him, where he gonna take care of his kids, his players. He really care about them. And he’s a good coach overall. He gonna make sure you’re mentally sound and he’s gonna make sure you’re good.”

2026 USC recruiting class

While USC currently has the No. 3 ranked 2025 recruiting class, the Trojans have the No. 2 ranked 2026 class. It’s obviously extremely early to worry about rankings at this point for 2026, but USC has commitments from CB Brandon Lockhart, CB Madden Riordan, Safety Dominick Kelly and WR Ja’Myron Baker.
