United States 4×400 relay team wins gold at Paris 2024 Olympics

The United States relay team won gold in the women’s 4×400 medal race at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Consisting of Shamier Little, Gabby Thomas, Alexis Holmes and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, the group finished with a time of 3:15.27 to set a new American record. Femke Bol and the Netherlands earned the bronze finish while Great Britain received bronze.

McLaughlin-Levrone broke the United States freee in the second leg of the race before handing it off to Thomas, the women’s 200m Olympic champion. Alexis Holmes finished things off for the gold medal with no one around her.

Team USA qualified for the Olympic final with a season best time of 3:21.44 during their semifinal heat — the best of all finalists. Joining them in the final were the relay teams from Canda, Belgium, Ireland, Jamaica and France.

This medal-winning performance comes after the United States women’s team won the 4×100 relay event earlier in the day. Anchored by Sha’Carri Richardson — Team USA came away with gold after a major comback from the LSU star. This came after she won silver in the women’s 100m earlier in the week.

Those are just a few medals won by the United States on the track in Paris. During the mixed 4×400 team alone, Shamier Little and Olympic teammate Kaylyn Brown already won a gold medal for the United States in the mixed 4×400 on Aug. 3. Alexis Holmes has a gold medal to her credit, and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone’s resume speaks for itself.
