Under Armour L.A. Camp: Recruiting Intel
MISSION VIEJO, Calif. – Under Armour Next+ is on the west coast this weekend. After making stops in Atlanta, Orlando and Dallas, the next stop is in southern California.
Many stars in California turned out and On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons gives the latest recruiting intel from Sunday.
4-star DL T.A. Cunningham
The buzz: Miami made a significant move when T.A. Cunningham made it to Coral Gables last month. The four-star defensive lineman likes the staff and he plans to be back towards the end of this month. An official visit to Miami is all but locked in as well and the Hurricanes have become a major player for Cunningham. Texas A&M is another school to watch. He was in College Station a few weeks ago as well. LSU, Michigan and Michigan State are schools Cunningham plans to visit in the coming weeks.
4-star RB Nathaniel Frazier
The buzz: Nathaniel Frazier is still keeping his options open. The running back out of Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei was decked out in Nebraska gear at the camp and the Huskers made a big impression when he was in Lincoln recently. An official visit is being considered. The next trips set for Frazier are to Alabama on April 11 and Tennessee on April 16.
4-star ATH Aaron Butler
The buzz: Colorado has entered the race for Aaron Butler. He was in Boulder in March and he is taking an official visit next month on April 22. Georgia is trending on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, but others are in this race. Oregon is another school to watch. The Ducks will have Butler on campus late in April. Alabama is another SEC school Butler plans to visit officially.
4-star WR Xavier Jordan
The buzz: Ohio State officially entered the race for Xavier Jordan when he visited Columbus last week. The Buckeyes offered Jordan in person and the Big Ten program is one of a handful of schools high on his list. Oregon, USC and Washington are three more. Oklahoma is up there too. USC is a school in his backyard and he plans to return there on April 8. His most recent visit was to Washington and the Huskies impressed. They did enough over the weekend to likely land an official visit.
4-star Manasse Itete
The buzz: Since visiting Miami early in March, there has been a little buzz around the Hurricanes. He is expected back in Coral Gables in the middle of April, then Manasse Itete will take an official visit there over the summer. Mario Cristobal‘s staff has Itete’s attention. The Hurricanes flipped Collins Acheampong from Michigan and he is good friends with Itete. Florida State and Utah are two more schools he plans to visit officially. Itete was at USC over the weekend and the Trojans and Auburn are two more in the mix.
4-star LB Kamar Mothudi
The buzz: Oregon has become the team to beat for Kamar Mothudi. The four-star linebacker visited Eugene in March and he will be back for the spring game at the end of April. He plans to take an official visit to Oregon as well. The connection he has with multiple coaches on the Oregon staff and the love he feels from that staff has the Ducks in front. Michigan, Nebraska, Utah and Washington are some others being considered.
4-star WR Ryan Pellum
The buzz: Ryan Pellum was back at USC recently and he is expected to return over the summer. There are no official visits locked in, but a source close to this feels the local program will receive one. Oregon will get the playmaker out of Long Beach Millikan on campus on April 12. The Ducks are recruiting Pellum as hard as anyone. He is looking into setting up visits to Georgia, LSU and Texas soon as well.
4-star WR Kwazi Gilmer
The buzz: Kwazi Gilmer is working to narrow his list down for the first time this spring. He is looking to get it down to somewhere around half a dozen schools. Before trimming his list, Gilmer will take visits to California and Stanford next weekend. Oklahoma had Gilmer on campus last month and there is buzz around the Sooners. He likes the offense and the culture in Norman. UCLA is another school in his home state to keep an eye on.
4-star OL Paki Finau
The buzz: Paki Finau is planning to make a decision before his senior season. He has locked up official visits to Arizona (June 2), Utah (June 9), Penn State (June 16) and Washington (June 23). He is planning to take a fifth official visit, but he is not ready to choose that school. He has visited Arizona and Washington for unofficial visits. There is some chatter around the Huskies being the school trending into these visits.
