UGA ticks three important boxes for 5-star EDGE Eddrick Houston

Once again, Buford, Georgia-based five-star EDGE prospect Eddrick Houston made the short trip over to Athens to see the Bulldogs in action, taking in spring practice last week.

“I arrived early. I was able to sit in a meeting with Coach [Tray] Scott before the day got started about where I would fit in at,” Houston said. “Then, we started the day. I sat in meetings and then watched practice.”

For Houston, this trip centered around one key area, however.

That was watching the progress in the Georgia defensive front.

“I was able to watch how Coach Scott coaches and how he coaches his players,” Houston said. See whether or not a coach can develop me or not is a big part of it for me.”

That bond, plus Georgia’s unique approach, has helped to make the Dawgs a consistent threat in this recruitment.

It’s not just about football when it comes to the relationship with Houston.

“They’re constantly trying to get me up there to socialize, hang out, and watch film with them on the previous years,” Houston said.

Currently, the Dawgs are considered the favorite to land Houston’s services per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (sitting with a 28.1-percent chance of landing his services as of this writing), and he confirms they have a strong chance because of their collective effort on all fronts.

“They sit up there because of their community, academics, and athletics, which are three big things for me,” he said.

While Houston says he’s ‘not yet’ set any official visits, Alabama looks to be on the cusp on landing one soon, and when the time comes, he’ll be looking for one key aspect.

“It will boil down to who I think can best develop me as a person and as a player,” Houston said.

Eddrick Houston plans to announce his commitment on August 22.
