UF’s player development, communication have Naeshaun Montgomery’s attention
ORLANDO — Naeshaun Montgomery, a 4-star receiver at Miami (Fla.) Central who will officially visit the Gators soon, said Sunday he has been impressed with Florida’s consistency in recruiting him.
“They never stop communicating no matter what,” Montgomery told Gators Online. “From the minute I got the offer until now, they’ve put the communication at 100.”
According to Montgomery, the Gators couldn’t recruit him any harder.
“It’s like a 10 (out of 10),” he said.
Montgomery, listed at 6-foot-1 and 165 pounds, is the No. 31 receiver in the country for the On3 Industry Rankings He has visited Florida multiple times and will return May 31 for his official.
For Montgomery, that visit will mostly be about bonding more with the people inside the program.
“I’ve seen it all at (Florida),” he said. “It’s just a great program and I’d definitely be coached by the top coaches.”

To Montgomery, Florida receivers coach Billy Gonzales and the rest of those coaching the Gators receivers had a major impact on Ricky Pearsall’s growth as a player during his two seasons in Gainesville. Pearsall was taken in the first round of the NFL Draft last week and that got Montgomery’s attention.
“He’s definitely a great player and under the great coaching staff they definitely got him ready for the next level,” Montgomery said. “They developed him. He was born like that, but they added a few tools to his box and got him ready for the next level.”
To Montgomery, player development is a key factor in his recruitment.
“It means a lot,” he said. “My goal is to make it to the next level. They say they can definitely get me ready for the next level — add a lot of tools to my toolbox. I definitely trust all the coaches there.”
Of the Gators, he added, “They sit really high.”
To land Montgomery, Florida is battling the likes of Alabama, FSU, LSU and Penn State.
He’s up in the air about a decision time, but said a commitment could happen as early as his spring game in May or as late as right before his season. Florida figures to be player to the end.
