UCF cornerback Justin Hodges officially visits Ole Miss
Ole Miss and head coach Lane Kiffin grabbed two big-time defensive transfer portal commits last week. And now the Rebels are potentially in position to snag another one. UCF cornerback Justin Hodges is currently in Oxford for an official visit on Wednesday.
Hodges was dismissed from the Knights’ program in January following an arrest. The charges were later dropped, per Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel. Before, he made 40 tackles and had two fumble recoveries, one sack and one interception in 2022. In three years in Orlando, Hodges finished with 77 total tackles, 16 passes defended, 6.5 tackles for loss and three sacks.
As a senior, he had 41 tackles, six interceptions and two fumble recoveries in 2019 for Western (Fla.), leading them to a 9-3 record and a Florida 8A regional final appearance before loss to eventual 2019 state champion Columbus.
As a member of the 2020 class, Hodges was the nation’s 1044th overall prospect. He was the 34th-ranked athlete and the No. 140 player in the state of Florida.
DeShawn Gaddie, John Saunders, DaiJahn Anthony and Zamari Walton are all now in the Rebels’ transfer portal secondary.
New cornerbacks coach Keynodo Hudson has a core of four experienced, long and athletic corners to get started with in 2023. Markevious Brown, Miles Battles, Davison Igbinosun and Braxton Myers have all opted for the portal. But the Rebels now have three defensive backs who have played a combined 116(!) games.
Hodges could be yet another tall, athletic playmaker to go along with the aforementioned four defensive backs. While now Tennessee head coach Josh Huepel was the man in charge at UCF, he said the Florida recruit was one of his best signees.
