Tyler Guyton injury: Cowboys OL taken to locker room during SNF vs. Steelers

The Cowboys came into Sunday Night Football against the Pittsburgh Steelers banged up and dealing with a number of important injuries. Unfortunately for the Dallas franchise, they had a number of players go down in the first half. First, they lost defensive end Marshawn Kneeland to a knee injury. He was carted off. Then they lost offensive tackle Tyler Guyton, who was taken to the locker room in the second quarter.

Guyton appeared to injure his knee. He was down on the field for a moment, before being tended to by trainers. The Cowboys had TJ Bass at left guard. Tyler Smith moved to left tackle.

Guyton was rolled up on the previous series, but stayed in the game. Once he exited, the Cowboys medical staff was looking at his left knee. He is listed as questionable to return. Before the injury, Guyton had struggled mightily in pass blocking, and it hasn’t been pretty. Pro Football Focus gave him a grade of 36. Tyler Smith, his replacement, has been graded out at an 86-pass blocking grade, with his worst grade of the season being a 68.

Smith should be an upgrade for Dallas at the tackle position. We’ll have to see how it shakes out. Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott struggled in the first half, with two turnovers on red zone plays. It’s the second game of his career with two turnovers on red zone plays.

Dallas led the game 6-3 at halftime. There weren’t too many big plays in the first half, but Prescott connected with receiver Jalen Tolbert for a 48-yard pass.
