There are few things that are more certain that if you recruit in the state of Oklahoma, you better know your way around Tulsa. And it’s no different for SCOOPHD as we made our way around the state to see some of Oklahoma’s most talented programs. During the final leg of our trip we were able to see Union, Owasso, Broken Arrow, Muskogee, and Sand Springs amongst many others.
Sooners Offer Leads Tulsa Union Stars
Oklahoma surprised some when they offered the latest Redhawks star, 2024 defensive back Devon Jordan on March 21. Jordan has since picked up offers from Alabama, Texas A&M, Missouri, TCU, and Miami amongst many others.
Seeing him in person for the first time since last season’s 6A-1 semifinal Jordan has become more physical and has the look of a player growing into his role as one of the state’s elite defenders. Jordan’s frame is still filling out but he’s got solid length and isn’t just successful at playing press, he’s a corner you can tell enjoys the role.
His size is an interesting aspect as he seems most natural as a corner but he could grow into a safety based largely on his willingness to be physical.
Jordan gets plenty of tests from his quarterback, 2025 star Shaker Reisig. As a sophomore, following a highly-publicized move from arch rival Jenks, Reisig had flashes of brilliance but also some growing pains. Though it was just a spring practice Reisig looked so much more comfortable and confident in where he was going. His ability to deliver the ball to all levels and do so with great timing will keep defensive coordinators up at night in 2023.
New Names to File Away at Tulsa Union
While Reisig changed schools a change of position that has worked well for one Redhawk is the move of Lane Wood to linebacker. Though he’s still also working at tight end there’s no question his frame has drawn more attention as an inside linebacker. At 6-foot-2 and 225-pounds he moves around well and with his time at tight end shows a nice feel for passing lanes as he continues to learn the position.
Up front Union is moving some parts around but two 2025 prospects to keep an eye on are Jesse Jones Jr. and Kris Mendenhall. Jones Jr. figures to play as a center in the college game where his athleticism can make up for him being a bit smaller in frame.
Meanwhile Mendenhall is a bigger guy that is still working things out. Does he have the length to play tackle? If not he seems like one who could slide inside and play guard fairly naturally.
Owasso Camp Has Some Big Boys

North of Tulsa there were plenty of talented prospects at the Owasso team camp but perhaps none flashed more power five potential than the hosting Rams. The squad’s standouts were led by a pair of 2025 offensive lineman – offensive tackle Blake Cherry and Ryker Haff.
Cherry is a long and athletic tackle that looks very natural in space and figures to become more complete as he fills out his frame. Haff has always been more of a mauler but has trimmed up a bit for the Rams and looks like a guy ready to really up his game in the near future. He’s an interesting player that could be a guard or tackle depending on scheme.
They were far from the only two big offensive lineman on hand with Muskogee’s incredibly raw, but intriguing 2024 offensive tackle Wesley Harvey joining Sand Springs 2026 standout Ryley Kester.
The two players couldn’t be more different as Harvey is something of a project at offensive tackle but at roughly 6-foot-7 and 250-pounds with light feet, there’s a lot of promise if he fills out that frame and gets to work on becoming a high-end blocker. Kester meanwhile is the definition of a phone booth player that will fight for every inch and enjoys trying to rattle his opponents.
Skill Positions Loaded in Owasso
Along with Harvey, the Roughers also boast 2025 quarterback Jamarian Ficklin and wide receiver/cornerback Kayden McGee.
Ficklin continues to show growth and is emerging as one of the state’s top 2025 prospects thanks to his athleticism and his arm talent. Ficklin will battle it out for the role as the state’s No. 1 quarterback in the unprecedented class in the state.
McGee is picking up some steam on the recruiting trail as of late with many Tulsa area recruiters liking him at cornerback. He’s a bit light in frame but with his natural ball skills it’s not hard to see more offers rolling in for him.
Another Tulsa area powerhouse that was on hand was Broken Arrow who may not be quite as loaded, at least amongst the upperclassmen, as most are accustomed to. One name that has caught the eye of several staffers hitting the area is tight end/defensive end Derrick Osmond.
Early in his career Osmond was seen as a defensive end but over the past few weeks plenty around Tulsa are talking about him as a tight end.
