Trent Howard injury update: Dabo Swinney gives ‘heartbreaking’ news on veteran starter

Clemson offensive lineman Trent Howard has suffered a torn ACL and will miss the team’s season finale against South Carolina, coach Dabo Swinney revealed Wednesday.

Howard suffered the injury in practice on Tuesday evening. The fifth-year senior started the past two weeks and had appeared in nine games this season.

“My heart breaks for him,” Swinney said.

Saturday’s game marks Senior Day for the Tigers, which only adds to the devastating news on Howard. Hopefully he will still be able to participate in the pregame festivities along with the rest of the team’s seniors.
