Tre Harris injury update: WR’s status revealed in Oklahoma vs. Ole Miss Friday injury report
Oklahoma has lost three of its last four games, scored a combined 12 points in its last two outings and just made a second quarterback change, as head coach Brent Venables decided to go back to season-opening starter Jackson Arnold. What’s more, Venables fired offensive coordinator Seth Littrell and promoted co-OC Joe Jon Finley to interim play-caller.
The Sooners’ offense has been a headache, and it doesn’t help that the unit is banged up at the receiver position. That will remain the case Saturday against No. 18 Ole Miss.
A handful of Oklahoma wideouts are listed as “out” for this week’s game against Ole Miss, including Jayden Gibson, Nic Anderson, Andrel Anthony and Jalil Farooq. That group has accounted for just two receptions this season. Gibson went down with a season-ending knee injury in the preseason. Anderson, reportedly dealing with a quad issue, hasn’t played since the Tennessee game in Week 4. Anthony, who was leading the team in receiving last year before suffering a knee injury, hasn’t played since Week 1. That’s the last time Farooq played, too, as he broke his foot in the opener against Temple.
The injury bug also spread to Sooners junior wideout Deion Burks, who leads the team with 26 catches, 201 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. George Stoia of On3’s SoonerScoop reported Friday that Burks had a setback in practice earlier this week. Like Anderson, Burks hasn’t played since Week 4 against Tennessee when he sustained a “soft-tissue injury.”

Ole Miss’ leading receiver has been on the injury report this week as well. The status of Tre Harris, who has piled up a nation-leading 987 receiving yards in seven games this season, is being monitored.
Harris left during a 29-26 overtime loss to No. 8 LSU two weeks ago. He had been dealing with a lower-body injury that he suffered the week prior against South Carolina.
The Rebels are 5-2 overall but only 1-2 in SEC play. They have lost to Kentucky and LSU by a combined six points. Whereas Oklahoma has struggled mightily on offense this season, Ole Miss ranks eighth nationally with 41.4 points per game.
Ole Miss still has College Football Playoff hopes but likely can’t afford another loss, especially one at home this week against Oklahoma.
