Transfer Portal Intel: Zvonimir Ivisic RPM; Louisville, New Mexico trending; Georgia, LSU, Maryland news

The 2023-24 college basketball season has come to an end. This means the college basketball transfer portal is going full steam ahead. The transfer portal opened on March 18 for any player in college basketball to enter without penalty. That started the 45-day window that the portal would remain open. As of this writing, almost 1,700 players have already submitted their paperwork to the NCAA.

Here is the latest intel on the recruitment of some of the top players who have entered the college basketball transfer portal.

C Zvonimir Ivisic, Kentucky

INTEL: Zvonimir Ivisic, or Big Z as he was affectionately known to Kentucky fans, took college basketball by storm. In the first half of his first college game, against Georgia on January 20, Big Z had 11 points, going 3-of-3 from three. The 7-foot-2 center from Croatia finished that game with 13 points and he finished the season in double figures three more times. Upon going into the portal yesterday, a source close to the recruitment tells me they feel confident that Ivisic will follow former Kentucky head coach John Calipari to Arkansas. I have placed an RPM for Big Z to end up with the Razorbacks.

F J’Vonne Hadley, Colorado

INTEL: J’Vonne Hadley’s recruitment has been a fun one to follow. Toward the end of the April 4-12 dead period, word about Michigan State and Iowa State started to swirl. The 6-foot-6 Colorado grad transfer had Zoom calls scheduled with both programs. The first weekend after the dead period ended, Hadley was on campus at Louisville. This season, the wing averaged 11.6 points and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 41.7 percent from three. USC is said to be the other school in the mix for the Minnesota native. Based on the current intel I have, I have placed an RPM for Hadley to choose Louisville.

F RJ Godfrey, Clemson

INTEL: It came as somewhat of a surprise when RJ Godfrey’s name popped up in the Transfer Portal. The 6-foot-8 sophomore forward finished the season averaging 8.3 points and shooting 60.0 percent from the field during Clemson’s run to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. Since going in on Friday, a handful of programs reached out like Auburn, Butler, Dayton, Xavier, LSU, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, and others. While Godfrey tells me he has not set any visits yet, Georgia and LSU are two programs I expect to be in the mix. Godfrey is originally from Suwanee, Georgia.

G Selton Miguel, USF

INTEL: Selton Miguel earned American Athletic Conference Sixth Man of the Year honors this season. The 6-foot-4 wing averaged 14.7 points, 2.2 assists, and 1.2 steals while shooting 39.0 percent from three. Miguel is set to take his first visit on Sunday as he travels to Maryland. Miguel does not have other visits set yet, so the trip to College Park, Maryland is worth paying attention to. Continue to pay attention to see if he sets anything further.

G Davin Cosby, Louisville

INTEL: Davin Cosby reclassified to enroll a semester early at Alabama. This year, as a redshirt freshman, Cosby played in 22 games and averaged 3.6 points while shooting 34.4 percent from three in 2.9 attempts per game. Upon his going into the portal on Saturday, one source suggested to me to watch Louisville. The 6-foot-5 wing is originally from Richmond, Virginia and he graduated high school at Raleigh (NC) Word of God. Based on the intel I have continued to pick up, I have placed an RPM for Cosby to ultimately choose Louisville.

F Jerry Deng, Hampton

INTEL: Jerry Deng ended his freshman year at Hampton averaging 10.1 points and shooting 39.1 percent from three. The 6-foot-9 forward who graduated from Norcross (GA) High came out of the dead period with two visits set. This weekend he is at New Mexico and he was scheduled to visit Florida State next weekend. One source close to the recruitment told me that things went very well this weekend at New Mexico. Based on the intel I have, I have placed an RPM for Deng to end up at New Mexico.

G Matt Knowling, Yale

INTEL: Coming off a first-team All-Ivy nod last season, Yale wing Matt Knowling helped lead the Bulldogs to an NCAA Tournament birth – and a first-round upset win over Auburn – this season. Yale has made the NCAA Tournament in two of Knowling’s three seasons on campus. The 6-foot-6 Knowling averaged 11.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists this season. He has upcoming visits set with Stanford (April 18) and Loyola-Chicago (April 22). Knowling has had Zoom calls already with both programs. A new school in the mix is Richmond. Continue to monitor these visits.
