Transfer portal guard on “all-name team” hears from South Carolina

The transfer portal opened officially for underclassmen players on Monday, and hundreds of players entered their names in hopes of finding a new basketball home. South Carolina basketball coach Lamont Paris and his staff have been in contact with several players as they work to retool the roster ahead of the 2025-2026 season.
One of the names on the Gamecocks’ board is former Valparaiso guard All Wright. Per reporting from On3’s Joe Tipton, Wright has heard from USC and a slew of other big-time college basketball programs. The 6-3 guard is a good shooter who made over 38% of his outside shots during the 2024-2025 season. He is still considering a return to Valpo, as well.
The Missouri Valley Conference’s freshman of the Year averaged 15.5 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.2 rebounds this season. His award-winning year was the second in a row for a Valparaiso player as fellow transfer portal entrant Cooper Schwieger (a 6-10 forward who has also heard from the Gamecocks) won the honor last year.

The Gamecocks are expected to be a major player for transfers this offseason. So far, four USC players have announced intentions to enter the portal, meaning there are at least five open scholarships (assuming the SEC officially adopts the 15-scholarship limit). New AD Jeremiah Donati implied this winter that Paris would have an improved NIL budget to work with, too.
South Carolina has interest in a large number of guards in the early goings of this year’s portal cycle. Wright, being a freshman, has three more years of eligibility remaining.
