Transfer Portal: Cormani McClain set to visit Florida, Tyler Baron still in contact with Miami, USC

Nearly a month since entering the transfer portal, Cormani McClain’s recruitment is heating up.
The former five-star recruit and Colorado transfer is expected to visit Florida in the near future. Plenty of top targets are still on the board, too.
Here is the latest on some of the top names still available from the spring transfer portal:
Louisville EDGE Tyler Baron
Intel: On3 spoke with several sources on Saturday about former Tennessee and Louisville EDGE Tyler Baron. Miami and USC are still in contact with the experienced pass rushers. Both have hosted Baron on official visits. Ole Miss has kept in communication, too. Viewed as an immediate impact player, he’s racked up 101 career tackles, 27 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks and four pass breakups.
Colorado CB Cormani McClain
Intel: The Colorado transfer and former five-star recruit is expected to visit Florida this week, sources have told On3. The target date for the official visit is Tuesday. Cormani McClain took an unofficial visit Friday with his mother and agent Hector Rivas. The Gators are definitely in the mix. Sources have said Florida will may not have a scholarship immediately available, but the scholarship count could shift this summer. The Gators were in the mix in McClain’s high school recruitment before he ultimately flipped from Miami to Colorado.
Ole Miss WR Zakhari Franklin
Intel: Ole Miss transfer wideout Zakhari Franklin is set to arrive on his official visit to Illinois on Sunday. A four-year starter at UTSA, he’s racked up 3,348 career receiving yards and 37 touchdowns. Sources previously told On3 that Arkansas State and Cincinnati had expressed interest.
Texas CB Terrance Brooks
Intel: Texas defensive back Terrance Brooks spent Friday at Illinois and is slated to visit Michigan and USC this week. His trip to Los Angeles is slated for this coming weekend. A five-star recruit in the 2022 class, Brooks earned Honorable Mention All-Big 12 honors in 2023. He finished the season with 20 tackles, six pass breakups and three interceptions last season. The three interceptions tied for the team lead.
Miami DL Thomas Gore
Intel: Former Miami defensive lineman Thomas Gore has upcoming transfer visits with Tulane and Georgia Tech, his NIL agent told On3. He played in all 13 games in 2023 for the Hurricanes, finishing with 8 tackles, four tackles for a loss, two sacks and two forced fumbles. The former Georgia State transfer tallied 93 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss and 11 sacks in four seasons.
Alabama DL Khurtiss Perry
Intel: A source confirmed to On3 on Friday that the former top-100 recruit is slated to visit Louisville this week. Khurtiss Perry has previously visited Indiana and Virginia Tech. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
Louisiana Monroe DL Adin Huntington
Intel: LSU was in the mix for Adin Huntington, but the Tigers are expected to head in a different direction. The Virginia native, who transferred from Kent State to ULM before the 2023 season, will choose between Tulane and Cal. He’s recorded 108 career tackles and 11.5 sacks.
Michigan State safety Jaden Mangham
Intel: Michigan State safety Jaden Mangham is visiting Ohio State this weekend before taking a trip to Nebraska on Monday. He will visit Michigan next weekend. The former four-star recruit is viewed as one of the top available players remaining in the portal.
Grand Valley State DL Jay’Viar Suggs
Intel: Jay’Viar Suggs recruitment has taken a turn after LSU entered the picture this past week. He released a new list of his top schools that included the Tigers, Michigan, Kentucky and Wisconsin. The Wolverines have been viewed as the leader. But LSU is now set to get Suggs on campus from Sunday until Tuesday. With two years of eligibility remaining, he’s the top priority at defensive tackle for the Tigers.
Nebraska LB Chief Borders
Intel: Sources tell On3’s Steve Wiltfong that momentum has flipped from UCLA to Pitt. After emerging as a leader in 2023, he was on track to being a real weapon in the Huskers’ defense this fall. The 6-foot-4, 245-pound flashed his speed in quickness. Now back on the market, the former four-star is one of the top pass rushers still on the board. The former Florida transfer played in all 12 games with the Huskers last fall while recording a career-high nine tackles along with a pass breakup.
