Touted RB Shekai Mills-Knight talks top schools, locks in five official visits

Chattanooga (Tenn.) Baylor School’s touted 2025 running back Shekai Mills-Knight tells On3 that several programs are standing out at this point in his process.

“Programs catching my eyes Ohio State, Ole Miss, Auburn, Alabama, Oregon, Tennessee,” Mills-Knight said.

Easy to see why the 6-foot-2, 210-pound Mills-Knight is catching these college coaches eyes. As a junior he only needed 147 carries to gain 1,018 yards and he came up big in the state title game rushing for 154 yards and a score.

Ole Miss just had Mills-Knight on campus. He was also there the first weekend in February. They were his first SEC offer back in October.

“They got the best running back coach duo in the game so I already know I’m gonna be developed right,” Mills-Knight said of Kevin Smith and Enrique Davis. “The running back room is open. They got their own vibe. Great coaching staff and I’m familiar with a lot of people up there so definitely one of my tops.”

Mills-Knight has his official visits locked in. Miami will be on May 31.

“Love that they’re building such a good recruiting class especially from the past year,” MIlls-Knight said. “They got some good linemen too so that’s definitely a big plus and their coaching staff is elite. Coach (Matt) Merritt is able to teach really well and is a great mentor and we have the same faith and I love Coach Dubs (Benedick Hyppolite) energy which I feel like is needed in a running back room.”

Oregon will get a visit the weekend of June 7.

“Oregon just love their atmosphere and environment from back when Coach (Carlos) Lock(lyn) was up there. They’ve been showing me what it’s all about and I could definitely see myself up there. Also one of my dream schools since a kid.”

Auburn gets a midweek visit beginning on June 10. He was on The Plains earlier this month.

“I feel like they have a rich tradition at running back with all them Heismans and great running backs,” Mills-Knight said. “Definitely a good fit for me with Coach (Derrick) Nix being an OC. Looking forward to my OV.”

Tennessee is set for June 14 after a strong visit two weekends ago.

“They’re cool,” Mills-Knight said. “Felt like a great atmosphere. I like Coach (De’Rail) Sims. He had offered me from Cincinnati and we’ve been close ever since. We have a great connection and he coaches some great ball.”

Ohio State is locked in for June 21 and the Buckeyes are emerging as a program to really watch. Locklyn offered while at Oregon in February and quickly double-downed after taking the running backs job in Columbus.

“They’re top for sure,” Mills-Knight said. “I’m locked in with Coach Lock. They got great energy up there and it’s close to home. It would be nice to play up there. They’re always having fun, love competing and they play in a great atmosphere!”

Mills-Knight recently visited Alabama and was offered. BamaOnLine’s Joseph Hastings has much more on that here.
