Top Targets: Examining Kentucky’s priority recruits on offense

Top Targets: Examining Kentucky’s priority recruits on offense

Kentucky surprised many in the high school recruiting world when Cleveland (Ohio) Heights tailback Marquise Davis picked the Wildcats over Michigan last week before going on his scheduled official visits in June. That commitment gave Mark Stoops and his coaching staff its first top-200 prospect in the class and a true pillar to build around.

With national signing day just seven months away, a big push for commitments will arrive over the next two months before high school and college football training camps begin. Now seems like a good time to take a closer look and see who Kentucky’s top targets are.

On offense, we’ve seen the Wildcats address quarterback (x2), tailback (x2), wide receiver, and offensive guard. But there are still needs out there. Kentucky needs to address tackle in a big way, and at least two more wide receivers are still needed in the class.

In our latest at KSR+, we will take a closer look at the Kentucky recruiting board and examine what targets could receive a ton of attention and potentially become a Kentucky commit over the next two months. Some priority recruits are emerging.

We’re starting with the offense.

Bryan Auguste

Position: Tackle (6-6, 285)

High School: Coconut Creek (Fla.) Monarch

Ranking: 3-star (No. 1,057 overall)

The South Florida native has official visit trips locked in with Boston College (June 7-9) and Kentucky (June 14-16). Bryan Auguste was offered by Kentucky offensive line coach Eric Wolford on Feb. 7 and played left tackle as a junior. Auguste’s first trip to Lexington will be in June with plans for a summer announcement.

Brody Lennon

Position: Tight End (6-4, 220)

High School: Gates Mills (Ohio) Gilmour Academy

Ranking: 3-star (No. 663 overall)

Kentucky has recorded one recruiting win in Greater Cleveland this cycle and is on the verge of recruiting a second. Brody Lennon has emerged as the top tight end option for recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow. Lennon has taken an unofficial visit to Lexington and was recently visited by Marrow at Gates Mills. Penn State and Pittsburgh also have official visits locked in with the 3-star recruit.

Intel: Kentucky is zoning in on Brody Lennon, and confidence is high that the tight end will commit to the Wildcats this summer.

Cameron Miller

Position: Wide Receiver (5-10, 155)

High School: Atco (N.J.) Winslow Township

Ranking: 4-star (No. 359 overall)

Cameron Miller was a two-way star for Winslow Township as a junior who is being recruited on both sides of the football. Kentucky is pursuing Miller to play receiver after the 2025 prospect logged 59 catches for 1,342 yards and 15 touchdowns last fall. Wisconsin and Rutgers are also involved. However, this appears to be a battle between the Badgers and the Wildcats.

Intel: Kentucky appeared to have the inside track for most of the spring semester, but a commitment never came. Cameron Miller was targeting a July 4 decision and this could be the biggest development for the Wildcats during that popular commitment window.

Dejerrian “DJ” Miller

Position: Wide Receiver (6-3, 190)

High School: St. Louis (Mo.) Cardinal Ritter

Ranking: 4-star (No. 385 overall)

Kentucky has ramped up its recruiting efforts in Greater St. Louis in recent years and that has helped put them in position to close on a four-star prospect. Dejerrian “DJ” Miller recorded 66 receptions for 1,361 yards and 25 touchdowns last season. Now the Midwest prospect has an SEC recruitment brewing. Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Tennessee all have official visits locked in with Miller after hosing the prospect for unofficial visits in the spring.

Isaac Sowells Jr.

Position: Interior Offensive Line (6-1, 290)

High School: Louisville (Ky.) Male

Ranking: High 3-star (No. 479)

Kentucky appears to only have one top target in Louisville this recruiting cycle. Isaac “Spike” Sowells Jr. has taken numerous unofficial visits to Lexington and has an official visit locked in with Kentucky for next month. However, this is a highly competitive recruitment with South Carolina and a plethora of other ACC schools involved.

Intel: Kentucky sits in a good spot but must close on Sowells this summer. Miami and NC State are also in a good position while Louisville will also be a factor for one of the best center prospects in this recruiting cycle. This recruitment still appears to be fairly wide open.

Andrew Stargel

Interior Offensive Line (6-4, 284)

High School: Roswell (Ga.) High

Ranking: 3-star (No. 1,096 overall)

Andrew Stargel has locked in official visits to Kentucky, Pittsburgh, and UCF. The Wildcats were the first SEC school to offer Stargel and still appear to be in the lead, but a recent offer from Ohio State could change things.

Intel: Kentucky was in great position for Stargel until the recent Ohio State development. The three-star prospect is taking a trip to Columbus later this week. The Buckeyes are now a real threat to land a commitment from the Kentucky target.

Darrin Strey

Position: Tackle (6-6, 295)

High School: Paw Paw (Mich.) High

Ranking: High 3-star (No. 450 overall)

Kentucky has a big need at offensive tackle in the 2025 cycle. Darrin Strey is a significant target. The Michigan native just wrapped up an official visit to Illinois. Stanford, Northwestern, Kentucky, and Cincinnati are also scheduled to get official trips. Some other schools are also sniffing around. The Wildcats will need to make a big push when Strey comes to Lexington next month.

Intel: Darrin Strey is a top target for Kentucky and a very important recruit for Eric Wolford. The recruitment is wide open, but Kentucky has a chance to change that in June with a decision expected to come in July.

N-Kye Wynn

Position: Tackle (6-5, 265)

High School: Muskegon (Mich.) High

Ranking: 3-star (No. 706 overall)

N-Kye Wynn received a four-star ranking (No. 264 overall) from On3 in the latest ranking update. The Michigan native has locked in official visits to Rutgers, Kentucky, Michigan State, and Pittsburgh. A recent offer from Nebraska has also put another school into the picture. Offensive line coach Eric Wolford has Kentucky firmly in the hunt.
